Weekly 2018-06-12: Storyboard of future ep26

Hi Patrons! I focused last week on the creation of the final storyboard for episode 26.

I decided to draw it on large sheet of paper; A3 (29,7cmx42cm landscape, 11,69inx16,54in) using a new process: I just drew every ideas of panel I had in mind, every sequences, even half pages; or two or three pages with adding a big padding around every thumbnails. I then completed the puzzles and obtained in total three stories. Two on the three are problematically complex and long, but the third was working. I obtained with this process many panels I really want to develop as full colored and polished panels.

Here is the scan (with last page blurred for no spoiler):

And here are scan of the rejected/uncompleted ideas (a story with Shichimi in the land of Ah, I'll re-study it for episode 27 maybe):

What took me time was to cleanup the storyboard into something I could share on Framagit for working collaboratively.

I tried this time to directly enter the storyboard into the translation system, so I can start to discuss about the dialog with the translators and the beta-readers.

I first made a lot of copy/paste in Krita to adapt the pencil thumbnail into comic pages with the correct frame width and page ratio. I also erased the speech bubbles from my notes.

Then I entered text and speech-bubble with Inkscape.

Thanks to this method, I was able to post a first "alpha" version of Episode 26 on Framagit to collect more feedback. It is good enough to get an overview and a general feeling of the mood of the episode.

During next week (this week), I'll correct the storyboard depending of the feedback and discussions and meanwhile I'll also start redrawing the panels or pages, like the opening shot landscape, and full shot on Pepper in panel two.

For this episode, I continued my work on the font Lavi; especially cleaning the accents and the kerning in Bold and Italic variation.

That's all for this second week of June. Next week I'll probably have black and white drawings. I'll draw them with Krita~git-master version; the development version will become at the end of the month a new release (Krita 4.1) and it's a perfect timing to contribute to more beta-testing!

Have a good week and thank you for your support!
