The Elgix (commission for Ryan Bowers).

Hey guys, I’m still working away on the big new two page spread for Humanity Lost and it’s going to take another few days to complete I think. For the meanwhile though, I wanted to share this new commission that I did for Ryan Bowers ongoing world building project as a little thing to tide you over till then. Here’s the description of the Elgix:

The Elgix are a vassal species to the Yutith Dominion. The Elgix are egg laying radially symmetrical quadrupeds who hail from a home-world which in all languages is translated as “frost”. Frost is call this because it is what is known as a snow ball world, the planets surface is locked in a perpetual ice age. The only habitable region of the planet is a slim strip of geothermal pools and lakes that dot the equator. By the time that the Yutith Dominion discovered their world, the Elgix had not yet established any meaningful off-world presence. The Yutith decided to elevate choice individuals from the Elgix to serve in specific roles such as Heralds and diplomats because of the Elgix’s pro social nature. The Elgix back on Frost saw this as a golden ticket off world and these roles became the most prestigious, high profile jobs among their aspirational classes. The Elgix became the acceptable face of the Dominion and were instrumental in forging the long lasting peace between the Free Worlds Alliance and the Dominion. Despite their previous successes, the Elgix’s dealings with the Consortium Triarchy have been less that fruitful.
