2024-11-05 14:54:18 +0000 UTCI tuned a few 2 strokes in my day and the proper expansion chamber can have a massive benefit to performance by creating the exact back pressure necessary to keep the fresh charge inside the chamber during the time when both the transfer and exhaust ports are open. I am certain someone made (makes?) a performance exhaust for the Saab. Perhaps it already has one... it does sound pretty gnarly!

2024-10-27 19:34:57 +0000 UTCSo you might know more about this than I do, but apparently 2-strokes are *super* sensitive to the exhaust pipe and if you know what you're doing you can really up the power with the right tube. I remember Wartburg-owners saying that the only exhaust they would ever buy is the factory one as even the supposedly *exact copy* cheapo version dropped the engine power because there was something done slightly wrong.
