Getting My Dilapidated Coda EV Back on the Road

Here's everything I had to do to get my Coda back to being roadworthy. A whole host of issues (including the wheel bearings, again) popped up after I made this video, so it looks like I have more work to do!

They were not charged, but there was nothing connected to drain them. They have a superb shelf life if nothing drains them.

Were the cars charged while the were on the property because it sounded like they were in a field and how are the batteries alive?

Evan Hartmann

Nope. It's actually quite difficult. It could very well be because the dollies I got are from Harbor Freight, but they don't roll easily

Aging Wheels

Should've asked this one last time but, is it super fun to push the parts car (or any car) around on those little car roller skates??

Jennifer Holz

Maybe you can find a sealed ball bearing that fits there instead of those primitive unsealed taper bearings.... Or maybe a proper wheel seal would fit on the front and rear? Idk... Very janky. The pinch bolt on the ball joint looks somewhat chrysler...

Seeing the issues you had with the circlip for the wheel bearing you can get some circlip pliers that have little circular ends. makes removal much easier

Wow, you made a bracket! Next time you'll have to break out the funk.

Misha Dellinger

I'm 90% sure I know why the wheel bearings are failing so fast. Fixing that issue will be an upcoming video

Aging Wheels

Did you figure out why they failed so fast? Please bring more, longer videos, really enjoying the content.

Just noticed the screaming goat figure on wall. It's very good for emergencAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!

Seriously I was watching all the wheel bearing again and it was painful knowing that you past self didn't know that you would have to do it again.

First it's a single bracket made out of flat steel. Then it's an angled bracket made out of al-you-min-e-um. Next thing you know you're chugging tea in a shed in Shropshire.

Kirk Lane

Haha. I'll have some fresh jointer action when I get back from California

Aging Wheels

I gave it a thumbs down because it had auto content and no wood working or chickens.

I now know what the front of the Coda reminds me of. It’s the Chevrolet Nubira. If you don’t have the slightest idea what a Nubira is, I can’t say I blame you. It’s one of the Daewoos GM brought over when they tried to establish Chevrolet in Europe in the 00’s. It didn’t work because to the average European, a Chevrolet has a V8 in it. The rest of the Coda doesn’t look very Nubira, but I’ve also seen pictures of a Chinese SUV with a Lexus front and the back from an X5, so...
