Well, I want to ask you guys something.

So errr, first bit is done!

Part 1 is complete at 2 hours and 38 minutes. What you can see a screenshot of, up there, is one of the earlier drafts that I have shown to a few close friends for proofing. Many edits were made throughout the process and now I am waiting for a few pieces of art before the whole thing will be finished.

There are over 25 audio edits on top of the two bulk recordings, I had a cold when re-recording some stuff and I had to re-record those again without realising how jarring it was to listen to. You can hear a few in the final version now but they aren't as egregious.

Music was tough, I got all the tracks from each of the mainline episodes and chose what I thought were suitable, I blended some songs in there from other franchises too when talking about them on writing tangents. The main point is to keep a consistent tone for what is being discussed and what you hear.

I dealt with a few days of copyright claims. After many re-renders and uploads, I managed to escape the bots but you never quite know what will happen when these things go live for the first time.

As I said before, this video is likely my finest work yet, in terms of production and I am happy that it can now sit in a queue, waiting to be uploaded. I finally have something tangible to provide you guys for waiting so patiently.

I have already recorded half of Part 2 while 1 is getting cleared up to completion and I have edited a bit of the timeline. Next update will focus on explaining what Part 2 will be covering.

But what I wanted to ask you folks for feedback on is the release of Part 1.

Realistically, by Christmas, I think I will be half way through Part 3 at best. It could be as far as February before all 15 hours/6 Parts are edited and ready for release.  So there is a choice I want you folks to make.

Would you prefer I release all parts once they are completed OR release part 1 on Christmas, as it isn't wholly about The Force Awakens and functions more so as an introduction to the series and an introduction to my work?

Of course, there will be a wait between Parts 1 and Parts 2,3,4,5,6, which is something I like to avoid but I am willing to make an exception because of how long this series has taken to make and I mean, c'mon, it's Christmas.

So, what do you guys think? Let me know in the comments and I will hopefully make a decision by the next update.

But HEY!

We did it, Part 1 is genuinely ready to release and it's longer than The Last Jedi! with full editing on the visuals, soundtrack, commentary and it's chock full of references. Thanks again for waiting folks, I am going to be so glad once I finally put this out. it's been too long.

Well, I want to ask you guys something.

Personally, I enjoy delayed releases. Gives me something to look forward to. I would release one video every 2-4 weeks (whatever fits your schedule). Looking forward to it!

I think the fact that it is two hours long means it will hold us over for a solid couple weeks at least and probably at least a month or so, so I don't see any problem with releasing part 1 at christmas, and then releasing the rest as you see fit, say one every two weeks starting in february or something like that

Gavin Palmer

I say release them as they are ready. If you are halfway through part 3 by Christmas why not just release the first 2 then and then the rest as they are ready?

Great, Mauler! I look forward to your TFA critique videos throughout the first few months of 2019.

Tim Tran

Definately would like a Christmas miracle, Mr. Mauler..

Andrew B. Goodwin

I would be 100% happy with part 1 on Christmas

Do what works for you and feels comfortable.

I'm in favor of releasing the videos when they are ready, both in the context of part 1 and in general. Each part is already several hours of content, so spreading the parts out would make them easier to consume and think about individually.

Mire

I want more content sooner, so I say release the first one ASAP and the others as you finish them.

For your part, I feel like it's a balance between peaks and valleys for viewership; 6 episodes each of multi-hour length released all at once might seem a bit overwhelming to some, as opposed to a slow drip, but too slow and they might lose some steam. I personally rather enjoy the anticipation of having episodes to look forward to, especially if they're long. Gives me more time to rest and think about things in between.

I’d prefer all of them to be completed and then uploaded. But that’s just my personal thoughts

Whatever works best for you man.

Choke me daddy Wait, what?

Man I was ready to click on it when I saw the screenshot. Throw it out there, man.

I would rather have it now. Plus if it is any good, it may net you some more patreons. :) TLJ part one went over a million a few weeks ago. Amazing.

Independent of us receiving it earlier, releasing it earlier would allow you to make use of feedback if you plan to address it again in later parts. The only reason I would propose holding off is if you think it will kill your motivation.

Patrick Davis

Sooner the better

I would rather you release part 1 on Christmas

Shadar

I'd prefer an early release. :-)

Oliver Gehrmann

Drop it ASAP.

i dont even care, both have pros and cons

The sooner the better, as far as I'm concerned.

Personally, I’d like a Christmas release for part 1

If it’s ready now, drop it now. Lmao. Christmas is over a month away; I need my MauLer fix sooner than that!

However, videos with a 1 week wait between each upload seem to do very well (your TLJ series, Lindsey Ellis' Hobbit series). So that could be a factor too. Counterargument against myself lol

This has nothing to do with my preference, but I'd highly recommend uploading as much as you can before article 13 goes live. If it remains unaltered then your videos have a 99% chance of being blocked in Europe. We can use a VPN to get around that, but if they aren't able to be uploaded in the first place we won't really have a chance to see them.

Mark Orell

Thanks for the comments, looks like it may be a Christmas release after all. Perfect since there is no new Star Wars movie this Christmas right? hehe.

Well now that's a Mauler Movie isn't it? Anyway, here's my two cents. Despite the presence of EFAP, I think many viewers would like to get a taste of your more scripted work again. It also serves as a nice ending to the content drought on your main channel. Beside, when TLJ critique came out they were also released weekly and the discussion, anticipation brought by the wait can be seriously engaging and exciting. So I sincerely believe to release Part 1 on Chirsmas and (Hopefully) put them out one by one in a steady pace would be a good option.

Soye'kin the Lurker

I would also like the early release. I am too excited

C'mon bro... Christmas is a day of giving. There's also a very slim chance everyone's feedback could offer additional perspective on future episodes. I'm pumped either way!

If it's just an introduction, then an early release is fine. It can also function as a way to get more people interested in your main channel. A video to setup of the rest in this series would only serve to build anticipation from your fans and any new ones.

Christmas is (possibly) coming, boys! I'm sure most people won't mind either option, myself included, but I second Krpajda; if it'll be fully uploaded at around the same time, you might as well drop the parts as they come; it gives people something to chew on/discuss in the leadup to the conclusion, and it'd probably get more views from rewatching/engagement as they release.

If it's mostly series introductions, why not sooner? It'll be nice to have some content to rewatch through December.

If the entire thing will be out by the same time regardless of your release schedule, you may as well drop it early. We get to see it sooner and you probably get more views as people rewatch the first part when others come out
