Raising my standards.

This project is essentially going to be what I consider my best work. That means there's a few things I have committed to that should bump it's quality.

First is that I have dropped gameplay footage to fill the background, which isn't something that I think is inherently bad to beign with but it is just an opportunity to share a visual and I choose to leave it alone in order to finish the project quicker.

I am already 3 years late with TFA so there's no inherent rush and that means I am committing to a relevant visual in every part of the 15 hours.

Granted, I am only in part 1 but I can tell you folks that part 1 is 2 and a half hours in total. The audio is complete and I have every guest YouTubers audio delivered now as well.

Part 1 covers Objectivity vs subjectivity, video essays on Youtube, pieces of drama that relate to these ideas I have had responses for, combined with some counters to the most common criticisms my channel gets;

"Reviews should not be longer than the subject"

"you repeat yourself/ramble on"

"You nit-pick"

That is the first hour, which is also connected to introductory stuff, like explaining what to expect in the following 14 hours and what my sources/methods are. Then I tackle the opening scenes of TFA and set the precedent for the sequel trilogy while veering off on writing tangents in relation to challenging extremely powerful protagonists, set up and pay off, comparisons within the saga. etc.

following that, I close out with comments about the reason to appreciate objective assessments and a build up for the rest of the series.

Part one certainly operates as more of an introduction.

I have been re-tooling the 2 and a half hours to better, explicitly share my message and as I edit in the visuals or the audio, I make notes. Like a time stamp in the timeline and a recommendation for a re-record, this could be because I have flubbed a line, I used a word that's typically inferred for a different meaning or I want to be more detailed in the point.

Sometimes I think of an extra few minutes of dialogue that is pertinent and over the past few weeks, I have performed many re-records getting everything in a position I want it to be in. I had to perform bulk recordings for the 2 halves of the video and then many 5 to 10 notes worth of recordings in between.

As you can see from the screenshot, it's getting larger and larger.

BUT

I only have one more planned before I feel everything is ship shape and in the mean time I have been ploughing out the visuals. Every sentence has accompanying visuals from the saga or other media and the bibliography I hope to complete is going to be ridiculous for this series.

With both of these significant changes to my work ethic, I really hope this will create the best work I can put forth. Yes, it takes longer but I hope that in the next 2 weeks I can show you guys a very long and chunky timeline that means Part 1 is essentially complete.

Hard work, long work, tiring work. But I am already getting a sense of happiness when seeing it all come together. See you folks in 2 weeks, unless of course you follow EFAP, in which we will be seeing The Right Opinion guest on for the next episode :^)

Comments

I've been salivating for this for months.

Sounds great! For a normal creator, 2 and a half hours would be an absolute event of a video, but this is just the opening remarks to a critical dissection. Super hyped for further content, and from the very bottom of my heart congratulations on reaching 100k, that's nuts. You are easily one of the best creators on the site, and you totally deserve it.

I will make a video for that in future, it is rather connected to TFA un the video especially with the visuals considered but ultimately I would like more time with breaking down films before tackling that kind of video in a sole project as it is very important and I would want to ace it. Better I keep honing my skill before trying to explain what is the fundamental bed rock of analysis I suppose. That will be a tough project.

Seems like we're in for a treat. Do you think you'd split the Subjectivity vs. Objectivity portion to its own video so you have something to refer people to or is it too connected to TFA?

JEROME Koch

Great, so instead of a critique of TFA itself, it is actually going to be your magnum opus……Can't wait for that.

Looking forward to it.

I don't know if I can address him directly but references or even visual cues matching are fine with me, my issue is re purposing the plot and repeating the same scenes without copying over the same writing quality. TFA has an issue of "doing it again" but much worse. Also he said the prequels are the OT, telling a very similar story. That simply isn't true. I wouldnt say that for any 2 movies in the saga except Episode 7 in relation to 4.

Hoping to slip under the radar, if not, il send counter claims and hope for the best.

Will you address the points raised by Chris Stuckmann, where he justified the similarities between TFA and OT by comparing them with the similarities between the Indiana Jones movies? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YbaliPyihCY

With so much visual material from the movies and other media, what will be the plan for dealing with the inevitable copyright strikes? (fair or not, they will happen.)

Ferawyn

Just so you know, after the first 2h 15m your points will no longer be valid.

So excited!!
