Audiobook Update

As I've mentioned elswhere, my narrator finished recording the audiobook for Warden (Book 4: Roost of the Roc), and I'm in the process of reviewing it now. If I haven't said so before, reviewing audio is not as much fun as it sounds. Basically, I'm not listening to the audiobook for pleasure; I'm listening and reading along, trying to find things that need to get fixed.  (I mentioned the process to a co-worker once, and she was like, "That has to the most tedious job ever...")

With any luck, I'll get it finished in the next day or two and then reach out to my narrator with any comments/corrections. His turnaround is usually pretty quick, so hopefully the finished product will be with ACX/Audible by the weekend. Unfortunately, I have no clue how long it will take for the audiobook to actually be released after that. Historically, it's been fairly quick, but I have a friend who's been waiting for almost three weeks. Ergo, even if my narrator and I are hitting on all cylinders, it still might take a month for the audio to be released.

On the non-audio book front, I'm way behind on Smoked, but trying to get it wrapped up.  I usually don't mention things that impact the writing schedule - e.g., illness, losing chapters (which is painful, but has happened), etc.  In most instances, I just admit to being behind and leave it at that, but I've had an unusual issue going on for a while.  Basically, for an extended period (and I'm talking months), we'd lose power at roughly the same time very day. You could almost set your watch by it. Not just us (meaning my house); it was the entire area.

Needless to say, it was incredibly frustrating, because it always seemed to happen when I had a full head of steam. And of course, once the power came back, it was almost impossible to just start back up with that same level of energy. In addition, my train of thought would be interrupted - just when the words were flowing like water. Then, when the everything turned back on, I'd spend an excessive amount of time trying to remember that perfect turn of phrase that I had in mind just before the computer shut down.

Anyway, the power company said that it had something to do with a substation and a transformer screwing up/being misaligned, yada, yada, yada. the upshot of it all was that they were aware of the problem, but it was supposed to be fixed. And it was...for a little while. But guess what? We're starting to have outages again. And just like before, they're happening regularly, like clockwork. In fact, it's about that time now, so I better wrap up befo
