Publication of Warden 4
Added 2022-04-12 13:37:56 +0000 UTCSo I just hit the publish button about a minute ago, so you heard it here first: Warden (Book 4: Roost of the Roc) is now published - at least from my perspective. Woo-hoo!!!
Of course, I have no idea how long it will take for the book to go live on Amazon, although they're usually pretty quick. I think officially they say it may take 24 hours or something along those lines, but my titles are usually available within a few hours. It may depend on how much of the requisite data is already in the system. For instance, if you've already listed all of the basic info needed to publish (title, author, etc.) and you simply need to add one last item - say, the cover - it may not take much time. But if you're starting from scratch and entering everything at once, maybe it takes longer.
That's the good news. The bad news is that I was checking out some of my titles on Amazon and realized that for the vast majority of them, something screwy has happened with respect to the book the descriptions. In essence, they no longer appear in paragraphical form; each is just a single block of text. Obviously Amazon's done something (it definitely wasn't me) and this is the result. Now I've got to go back and "fix" that issue for each individual title. I don't talk about it much (if at all), but these kinds of things aren't completely uncommon. Just a few weeks ago, I realized that something had gone haywire when the hardback version of one of my books completely disappeared, and the other versions actually linked back to Book 1 of the series instead of the appropriate book. Amazon's response was along the lines of, "Meh...it happens."
As you can tell, there's a certain amount of vigilance that has to maintained in terms of publishing - at least for indie authors like me. Now I've got to start trying to fix those book descriptions. *Sigh* It's gonna be a long day...
