John can never turn back time in any way that truly matters regardless of retconny abilities to be the father that was never there. To do so could cause its own set of issues since Harry might remember both versions of events down the line. And if that wasn't what he wanted, it could just lead to him having greater resentment for it, if he feels resentful at all, if that resentment comes to the surface later. Depending on John's choices it could be come even stronger. Even if John attempts to rekindle a relationship with Harry he would need to do it in a way that's not as his father, but as a figure that wants to do right by him since I don't think depending on context John has the right to be called Harry's father anymore. Depending on his awareness of social situations and psychology, I figure John would know that. He can't come to Harry's side as a father, but as an adult guardian figure similar to what Dave did for Yiffy. And let Harry make his own decisions going forward. Including whether or not he wants John in his life as a person even if not a father. It makes me wonder if John counts as stranger danger. Eventually you just have to accept if they never want anything to do with you. Even if it hurts. You can't force that.
