Hey everyone, quick update on the next episode:
We shot the whole thing last week (minus one quick pickup shot I'll get in a few days). It is...a long one. I know the videos are rarely short, but this is another one that's as long as a feature-length movie. I figured this would happen since it's a stupidly huge topic (trying to tackle the entire state of modern American cinema here). It was originally going to be part of the content episode and then they each ended up expanding too much it made sense to split them up. This is all stuff I've been planning on covering for well over a year, so it's a relief to finally get it all out of my system.
Anyway, since we're editing this now and I'm getting ahead on research/writing for the next one, I wanted to send a little update and give you a peek at what this one is going to look like. I knew that it would be easy for this video to end up as just a long, boring rant, so we made it a priority to present it in a fun way. The whole thing is framed as a murder mystery with a list of suspects as I try to deduce who's murdering cinema. Also I wear a silly mustache.
Above you can see what the raw footage looks like, and then what the final graded shot is like. This is all just done within Adobe Premiere Pro. The LUTs used come from here and the film grain is from here.
The episode will be out sometime this month. Stay tuned!
