Weekly update - 20th March - imouto vid edition..

This has been an interesting week filled with jetlag, altitude adjustment and a minor case of food poisoning. But things are better now!

The dreaded imouto vid

In an earlier update I said I'd talk about this sometime whenever I got around to making it. For those who don't know, it's a voiced video that was funded like...a long time ago now. Here is everything that went wrong with it.

Jan 1st - 2021, sent the script to VA to work on.

Some time between - My computer totally dies. All files are lost.

May 29th - 2021, after multiple threats of a refund I finally get the work back.

Sometime soon after - I realised I had to remake the video from scratch. This was demotivating. I then listened to the audio provided and fuck, I hated it. I then went to talk to her about it and her whole account had gone private. Apparently she retired after my video.

So then I was left with audio I hated, and losing the rest of the video that was basically complete. I basically pretended this video didn't exist. I intended to go back to it of course, after a bit...but then a bit turned into 6 months..and more. This part is my fault of course.

So I recently decided enough is enough, I'll just make it! But then I listened to the audio again and I really fucking can't. The VA took the young part of younger sister very literally and it's painful for me, and then there's also a lot of words that are just...not pronounced very well.

So here's what's happening.

1: I'll be posting the audio file in a patreon post for literally any tier. I'd make it public but then the post is NSFW and against rules. You are free to listen to it and share in my suffering, or maybe you're into that kind of voice and...yeah. Obviously, this will contain spoilers.

2: I have a translator lined up to translate the script into Japanese. Yes, this means the video will be going full weeb. Superior subs > dubs.

This will 100% cost me way more than the value that this video ever generates for me. But consider it a gift for the delay involved.

Doki..doki?

This also means the imouto vid won't be next. Instead it's going to be Doki doki literature club. Well, actually next will be Marin but that's a rogue vid. But the DDLC vid is going to be fucking awful or a masterpiece depending on your view on things. I will say that the video will ONLY appeal to those who have played through the VN. If you don't want to miss out, you have more than enough time and I highly recommend it.

I am having some internal conflicts on how to release the video. On the one hand, the characters are all canonically 18. On the other...I don't think PH will like Natsuki. So then there's the vault, that'd mean a three month delay between initial version and public release. For most videos I am happy to do that because well, that's the only money I get from vault videos. But without posting spoilers, I feel that such a release schedule will greatly reduce the experience for later viewers. So I am considering just releasing it off of PH for free without early access...but I hope you can see why I'm hesitant to do so. Basically it's a choice between giving you all the best experience or actually having money to eat. In most cases a middle ground is very easy to find. But this it seems like one extreme or the other.
