TENET And A Celebration Of Vibes Movies

(TOOK THIS DOWN LAST NIGHT TO MAKE A COUPLE CHANGES BUT NOW IT'S BACK)

or watch the extended ad-free cut on Nebula

And we're back! Our nearly 2-month hiatus is over and don't worry, we're back on sort of a regular schedule again (as in, episodes every few weeks).

If you want an idea of the usual gestation process for an average episode, this one started back in January 2021 with this tweet, and then that idea just kinda kicked around in my brain for a couple years, and now, finally, here we are. Talkin' Tenet. And Miami Vice. And, once again, Mission: Impossible.

This video debuts our brand new title sequence by the great Madeline Metolius, along with the new theme song by Brian. It feels like the show is finally complete now, and hopefully we're hitting our stride.

Coming next time: a very cool episode that has been in the works even longer than this one.

TENET And A Celebration Of Vibes Movies

Comments

I was hoping this was going to end up mentioning Babylon - the most epic bombastic impressive frustrating terrible amazing Vibes movie in recent history. It is just like Tenet in that if you try to find logic in characterization or plot, you will be disappointed. But if you get on Damian Chazelle's level and just feel it, it's.... still frustrating as heck but the middle 45 might be the best "movie about making movies" EVER. Also, while feeling Bond Vibes in Tenet is pure fun, feeling whatever Vibes Tobey Maguire was putting out at the end of Babylon was anything but. But I guess humans like sick and gross horror movies too, so who's to say the vibes have to be "good"?

Nik Pinski

So... do not the Ocean's 11 series of movies fit into the category? They seem to check all the boxes.

Allan Rousselle

I just thought the JJ Abrams’ Star Trek movies might fall into this category.

So Indiana Jones is kind of VIBES-MOVIE in the PAST. Escape from New York is a VIBES-MOVIE in the FUTURE. And Hideo Kojima makes VIBES-GAMES.

Björn Blankenheim

Do we feel John Wick and The Gray Man fall into the vibes category?

Heck yeah! I wondered why the youtube version was taken down, but I could follow the link for the Nebula cut in my email, was that version changed as well? Anyway, #cowboyshit – I had tons of fun watching this episode!

Armando Marchetti

This is probably my favorite video Patrick has ever done (my previous was Baseball). I love these types of movies SOOOO much, and it was awesome for someone to finally put words as to why they’re so enjoyable. I thought I was alone in loving Tenet, too!
