Vote in TTToTTT Semifinals - Legacy Sequels vs. Gore Verbinski

And in our other semifinal match-up of the day, two of the toughest competitors in this whole tournament...
The Anatomy of a Legacy Sequel (submitted by Harrison Webb)
vs.
Gore Verbinski (submitted by Mario Freitas and Lauren Damon)
The legacy sequel, or "legasequel" has become a consistent feature in modern cinema, and while these movies have a lot in common, there are also a lot of variations in their approach. so we'd get into Top Gun: Maverick, The Force Awakens, Blade Runner 2049, Matrix Resurrections, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Tron: Legacy...but also go all the way back to The Color of Money, which is kind of the original one. And yes, also Psycho II.
But it has some tough competition from ol' Gore Verbinski, one of the true gonzo blockbuster auteurs of the 21st century! This is the guy who made the shockingly great American remake of The Ring! Who won an Oscar for the insane animated western Rango! Who made the fascinating disaster The Lone Ranger! Who made A Cure for Wellness, maybe the single grossest, most unpleasant major studio release of the past decade! And, oh yeah, who also made THE PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN TRILOGY! It's an incredible, varied filmography and there is so much to dig into there.
And don't forget to vote in today's other semifinal: GODZILLA vs. MUPPET CINEMA

Verbinski remains underrated 😔

2023-01-26 01:08:33 +0000 UTCI feel like every Legasequel—by virtue of being what they are—already has a built in little industry dissecting and analyzing the newest entries all over youtube. They’re covered by their respective fandoms so often, it makes it less exciting for Patrick to add to that pile. Anyway, once again campaigning for Verbinski.
Lauren Damon
2023-01-25 19:45:12 +0000 UTCHardest one yet! Honestly these are my top choices and had a wish that these would magically end up in the final for me to do a coin toss. Sad to see one of them die as young as semifinalist!
2023-01-25 19:25:26 +0000 UTCBoth really interesting topics, but the "legasequel" is so all over the place in every way (quality, box office, etc.) that I would rather see that video.

2023-01-25 18:19:15 +0000 UTCOnce you contrast the choice like that... Yep, "Rango" is a much better and more interesting film than "Top Gun."

2023-01-25 17:35:00 +0000 UTCMy only question about legacy sequels is "Why now?", so I'm favoring a tightly-focused retrospective in this round.
2023-01-25 16:37:49 +0000 UTCPlease, please let him do Gore over a video where he has to talk about the dame franchises that have hundreds of videos about them every day

2023-01-25 16:31:46 +0000 UTCStill voting Gore. To the end! (Though, this one and the last round were tough votes).

2023-01-25 16:27:58 +0000 UTCLegacy sequels for me. I really want to hear Patrick break down the likes of Fury Road/TFA/Maverick, and the Jurassic World entries too. Also, do the Jump Street movies quasi-classify as legasequels?
