A Dying Cinematic Art (And Why It Needs To Come Back)

Please excuse the overdramatic title. This is basically just a video about opening title sequences - why they're great, what they can do, and why they should come back into style.

And for those of you who have Nebula, you can watch the extended cut there (where I rank my 10 favorite title sequences)

great video of a surprisingly topical subject :)

Creed-its!

Thanks for calling out the weird plot obsession of online film discourse. It sometimes feels like people view films as "plot delivery devices" and things like aesthetic, tone, and theme are viewed as a distraction. Maybe that's why so many recent blockbusters have forgettable soundtracks and by-the-numbers cinematography; artistic vision gets in the way of the precious plot...

Hearing you say “Roll Creed-its” made me ridiculously happy.

Thank you for calling out the "have their cake & eat it too" Marvel thing of putting the big fancy opening credits sequences at the ends of almost all of their movies (and D+ shows). And I feel like your "memorable theme song" theory has some validity there.
