The Zack Snyder Video is Happening
Added 2020-08-24 22:52:46 +0000 UTCWelcome new patrons! You did it! You helped us reach the goal where I make the video that will surely destroy me.
Many of you are excited. Many of you are scared for my health and safety. Let me address a few things here.
1. In my experience, toxic Star Wars fans have become even worse than toxic Snyder fans. I've already made videos about why The Last Jedi is good so there's nothing coming I haven't dealt with before.
2. This will not be a super negative takedown "thing bad" video because I have no interest in making those. And I think Snyder is more complicated than that.
3. This will be totally different from the Snyder series Maggie Mae Fish has been making. Her series rules and I would never want to step on her toes.
4. There will be A LOT of owl movie talk.
5. It will almost definitely be made before the Zack Snyder cut of Justice League is released. I don't think that movie is going to reveal anything new about Snyder that isn't already clear from his previous films.
6. I'm not actually sure when it will happen but probably before the end of the year.
7. This video is for GROWNUPS. NO KIDS ALLOWED. IT'S VERY SERIOUS.
Also we're gonna need some new Patreon goals now.

I can’t die happy until you make a Big Lebowski video while wearing The Dude’s sweater

2020-08-31 16:07:43 +0000 UTCI FORGOT ABOUT THIS AND AM PSYCHED. Also I'm going to raise the stakes and pitch something wild: a series of tiered goals that unlock shooting five or six 10/15 min shorts, with each working as a standalone but also when put together in sequence they form a complete feature. I've no idea if that's even doable? A feature length script that can be split into several shorts? With each "segment" also allowing for some passage of time between their productions? The challenge is fascinating and the process of coming up with the plot could, in itself, be an amazing video. FYI I don't want to suggest impossible tasks, just wanna support your work.

2020-08-26 20:15:06 +0000 UTCThat's already happening! I've mentioned it in a bunch of videos. We were supposed to shoot in April but then the pandemic delayed everything. Hopefully we'll be able to shoot before the end of the year.

2020-08-26 19:52:54 +0000 UTCPatreon Goal pitch: how about the channel takes a short break (two, three months?) to produce and film a 10/15 minute fiction short? I get not feeding the youtube algorithm for an extended period of time is a problem but you could make an announcement video to explain the channel will be a little different for a short while and then upload off the cuff video blogs about the OC, or have your mom and dad take over the channel for a bit, even Charl can pitch in? Whatever is fun and frees you up to film! Supporting you as a fiction as well as an essay filmmaker seems like a good, sensible use of Patreon, erm, patronage.

2020-08-26 19:48:43 +0000 UTC100% serious Patreon goal ideas: 1. Launch a TCM-style wine club but for Nickelodeon shows, curated by cartoon sommelier Matt Torpey 2. Patrick finally watches Locke 3. Bloodsport-style duel with Krasinski 4. Mamma Mia 1+2 singalong zoom party 5. 90s Dark Universe sequel video about Hammer Horror 6. Shefflok & Waffson gritty reboot 7. Patrick’s parents adopt one lucky patron 8. Patrick Explains for Kids! ABCs, 123s, colors and shapes… the possibilities are endless! 9. My Dinner With Andre Blue Flame Special 10. Grow the beard back.

2020-08-25 03:26:10 +0000 UTCBasically my theory is the whole Peak TV era is directly analogous to the post-Watchmen/Dark Knight comics boom. Pretty much everything fits. Try it!

2020-08-25 02:10:54 +0000 UTCAs someone who lived in comic shops in the 90s, I've always felt Snyder is playing the role of Rob Liefeld and the Image crowd - all surface, no depth and a bizarre delusion that they're doing depth. But then I think the Nolan brothers are producing low-end Vertigo tosh, so...

2020-08-25 02:06:22 +0000 UTCCool. I can't wait. Maggie Mae Fish is doing her own Snyder work and it's fantastic. I can't wait to hear your perspective on it.
