The Next Video
Added 2020-01-21 00:37:28 +0000 UTCIf you follow me on Letterboxd this won't be a huge surprise. But anyway, here's the next one:

(okay I'm not sure how sad this really is, so the title could change)
I've wanted to make this one for over a year. Ever since Welcome to Marwen came out and seemed so bizarre until I realized it was sort of a rosetta stone for Robert Zemeckis. This video is kind of like the Terrence Malick one from last summer, in that it looks back through his entire career to figure out how he got to the weird place he's in now.
Right now I'm rewatching Zemeckis' entire filmography. If you haven't seen his early ones, I highly recommend them. The guy made a lot of great movies.
And don't worry, Charl will be back.

Robert Zemeckis fascinates me because he made probably my favorite movie, and many other great films, but he seems to be so bored with filmmaking. I saw him give a talk in college when "Flight" came out and I only sometimes remember I even sat in the same room as him once.
2020-01-21 15:03:08 +0000 UTCI can't speak for Welcome to Marwen as I have yet to see it, but Zemeckis couldn't be too far gone because Flight was a great film. Though... oh maybe that was a while ago now.

2020-01-21 00:43:28 +0000 UTCCan’t wait for this one. Robert Zemeckis had some amazing movies early on and I feel he’s just lost his lustre. In many ways, the same goes for Spielberg.
