Rewriting The Matrix Sequels

This was great! And the hard work shows. I’ve always felt there were amazing movies somewhere in these sequels, and I probably watch them about once every year or three. Always sort of enjoyable/heartbreaking. Your spot-on “You have to give [the last line] to Morpheus” …bruh. I’m dead. And so, while I don’t want to be all viewer-requesty, there’s another heartbreaking set of sequels out there where an underrated premise turned into a world-stomping blockbuster that spawned two overblown sequels that almost, almost get there but ultimately let down their near-perfect predecessor. If you were going to turn this into an annual thing, you might look towards … Pirates of the Caribbean 2 & 3 😬(ducks tomatoes and runs out the back entrance) Anyway I loved this and can’t wait to watch it again!

This was fantastic! One of my favorites by you (even if it does not start your parents)

Thanks so much for this video, Patrick! I've always felt like these movies were under appreciated. Flawed, but kinda wonderful. But yeah, now I do wish I could see the Willems version of these movies.

I was thinking the same thing. I laughed so hard. "Concordantly!"

OMG So good! Thank you for doing this, it was fun watching and playing along with guessing where you would go with your version. I loved all the character arcs and everything seemed very satisfying except one little thing, and I don't know if it's a good idea or not because I've only spent 5 minutes thinking about it, but... When Neo meets with the machine god I would love to see them retcon(am I using that word correctly?) the original concept of the first matrix film where humans were used as computational devices instead as batteries. I would have loved a huge twist just moments before the movie ends when we find out that A.I. really doesn't exist in the traditional sense, instead the machines use the human brain to achieve their own consciousness, they're symbiotic creatures who depend on humanity, in-fact Neo is the Machine gods host(too much of a twist?), this would vastly raise the stakes of the Smith cloning problem, because for every in-matrix human he copies himself onto a machine in the real world "dies". I don't know, I think's fun, you truly inspire me to keep a high level interest in movies. Thanks again! Keep them coming.

Those WIll Ferrell sound clips? Perfection.

Omg, Patrick! This kind of stuff is why I support your channel with money! I appreciate that you took the time to treat this like an assignment with guidelines instead of a simple angry fanboy rant. I've said for years that "Final Flight of the Osiris" should have been the opening of the second movie, and I feel so very validated now. This is both an entertaining retrospective on the Matrix sequels, and a solid little tutorial on the joys and benefits of outlining. Thank you!
