Notes On Our Josh Journey So Far (We Heart Hartnett)

Listen to We Heart Hartnett on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, Soundcloud, Google Play

Matt was away this week so instead of covering Josh's next film, we did something...different. This episode might be a trainwreck. It might be a lot of fun. I honestly don't know. But things will be back to normal next week.

Also: new video coming this week and it's going to be a fun one.

I'm not sure if this'll be interesting to anyone else, and some of it might have been covered on the podcast already, but while I was finishing listening to this episode today I managed to discover a Note of my own! So there's this new Irish film coming out... this week actually, called Rosie, it's got a fair amount of buzz around it, decently positive reviews in the US and Canada, it's very topically about the homeless crisis here, written by Roddy Doyle (which is a pretty big deal), and it's being produced by the same company that made a number of modern classic Irish films and all of Yorgos Lanthimos's most recent stuff. I knew most of that, but today I got an email about a Q&A screening and found out that 1) it's starring Sarah Greene, who I know from other things she's done but didn't discover until looking Rosie up that she was Hecate in Penny Dreadful, and that 2) it was directed by... Paddy Breathnach! Director of Blow Dry! Mr Breath Natch, the guy who made Blow Dry and also made Shrooms showing up again out of nowhere to completely knock me flat. It was an absolute trip tbh. So, you know, safe to say that Paddy Breathnach recovered from the awkward experience of Blow Dry then. (Not to mention that three years ago he apparently made a Spanish-language film in Cuba written by the guy who wrote some of those modern classic Irish films, and it came *this* close to being nominated for the Foreign Language Oscar. Which basically blew my mind all over again.)
