This is not the most exciting video, but it was a necessary one.

As much as the YouTube videos are great and I love making them and they pay my rent and lead to fun opportunities, I know that if I want to have the opportunities to direct bigger things, I need some sort of "calling card," like a well produced short film. And I haven't made one of those in a while.

I've been meaning to make one for over a year, but after writing one draft last fall it got derailed by the weekly YouTube videos. So now to force myself to move forward on it and get the script into good shape and ready to produce, I had to devote this week's video to just documenting myself writing.

So here's a 15-minute vlog/doc about my struggles to write a decent short film.

And I fully intend to produce this short (with some kind of budget) in the next few months or so. I'm making this public so you guys will hold me to this and not let me get lazy and put it off. This thing will be a challenge, but I need to do it.
