Realism: How Much Does It Really Matter?

This one's a new video essay.

If you follow me on Twitter you might have seen me complain about a repeated line of commenting on the Marvel color grading video essay: that the flat coloring is more "realistic," and therefore better.

I've been thinking about this for months, and decided to do a deep dive on cinematic realism PLUS a discussion of the Wachowskis' Speed Racer (which you knew was coming).

This one gets heavy into cinema studies stuff, so BUCKLE UP.

Beyond this, the team and I are writing a bunch of narrative shorts for the summer that we're going to start shooting next week. These are gonna be good, guys.

Also, sorry this is so late. I'm out of town and forced to edit n my old, failing laptop, and technical difficulties caused a delay.

ALSO: I'm gonna be a San Diego Comic Con this summer. If you are, too. Let me know. I think there should be a meetup of some kind. We've never done one before and it seems fun.
