Stan Lee: The Gritty 1970s Action Movie

This post is a bit late, so you've prooooobably already seen the video by now. But here it is anyway!

This is the first video of the new weekly video initiative. It was supposed to drop last Wednesday, but since we shot part of it at the New York YouTube Space, it had to go through a lengthy approval process with YouTube before we were allowed to release it, so it ended up coming out on Thursday.

Btw, the scenes shot at the YouTube Space are the opening and closing sections with me at the podium, the diner scene, and the fancy wood-paneled room where I'm on the phone. The studios there are pretty amazing, so we'll be definitely be using them again. I'm actually spending all of next week there, but that's for something else that I'll talk about soon.

The inspiration for the video was this bizarre bit of news from September. I don't know why anyone would think Stan Lee's life is suited for being adapted into an action movie (spoiler: he did not partake in very much action or adventure), but apparently a major movie studio does. So with this news, plus Jake having already played Stan in a video a couple years ago (so we already had the mustache and sunglasses), it seemed like an appropriate subject to tackle.

And the idea of Stan Lee in Death Wish, spouting catchphrases, just seemed really, really funny to me.

Speaking of Death Wish, if you want to see how unoriginal I am, check out the original trailer and be astounded at how much I blatantly ripped it off.

As usual, the script is attached to this post, in case you want to see the parts we ended up cutting from the final video.

New video coming on Wednesday. It's a video essay about nerdy, technical stuff.
