One More Thing: War Aspect

Greetings Adventurers,

We'll have a new One More Thing theme starting up next month, but for this month we just decided to make something totally different to anything we've made before. Lurching from the remnants of battlefields, these war aspects represent a threat to the land even worse than the wars that spawned them. Searching for more weapons to add to their mass collection, they hunt for population centers with one purpose in mind.

Design notes from Matthew:
This has been one that been in my brain for a bit. We just never really had a theme to fit it, but since we had a month here to do something different, we decided to dive it and try a creature type that we had never created anything like before. It was in fact a challenge, as it usually is when you try something new, but then again that's half of the fun of trying something new in my opinion.
One of the challenges I faced, was trying to figure out how to categorize this thing. You would think it would be basic, but I could see argument for undead, constructs, elementals, and even several other categories like monstrosities. It didn't fit into anything perfectly with the original theming that I had in my head, so I decided to modify it a bit and make it lean more into the spirits of the dead forming these hulking weaponized beasts. With that, undead became the much more obvious choice.
I wanted to lean into the mechanic of disarming others as I think that's something that is utilized far too rarely in monster design. There's this interesting dynamic of what to do when even your weapons are seemingly rebelling against you. I think there's fun to be had in that if the party works around it and tries to cleverly outplay it by strapping their weapons to themselves or something.

We're excited to have brought you another full month of releases and we're definitely not stopping any time soon. It's fun getting to design a bit outside of our usual style with this month. Next month we'll be moving in a new direction for a few creatures. Hopefully you find them...palette-able
