Merry Maker

Greetings adventurers!

The most magical time of year is kicking off and I couldn’t be more excited to get out in the cold and take part in the annual snowball fights. I’ve heard tell that one of the elves has a new mechanism that he’s looking to show this year and… oh no, what is that thing? Surely this can’t just be made for the merriment of the creator and those around. I’m uncertain if snowball based playful combat will ever be the same after this.

Our patrons get early access to all of these items as well as additional formats that are easily usable in both physical and online play for D&D and Pathfinder 2E. Additionally they get high-res art exports, easy to use text exports, behind the scenes updates, and a lot more.

If that strikes your fancy, consider becoming a Patron

Design notes from Matthew:

I love the holidays, not out of any specific practice or anything but more out of the spirit of giving and some of the fun of seeing family and friends again. It’s always something that I want to celebrate and I consider it a great time to just get a little silly and enjoy the end of the year. I tend to be just a bit more open and all. Anyways, the reason I bring this up is that we wanted to make something to celebrate the season and well, we’re never ones to shy away from a bit more of an odd release. Enter the Merry Maker.

On the PF2E version of this, I wanted to make it clear that this is an optional accessory and not a primary weapon. The best way to do that is to not make it function like a primary weapon at all. No roll to hit, no using it for strikes, no more than once per round usage. It should instead be seen as a way to slow people across a field and the once per round limitation encourages players to take cover and utilize it differently than a primary weapon. Slow is quite powerful though, thus the lower damage as well.

On the 5E side, blinded is a bit more specialized, so I wanted to make sure the damage didn’t outscale the utility. I think most of the focus of this item for the 5E version is on its big “Let it Snow” ability and that’s fine by me. I like to approach items with different purposes based on the system and creating that cinematic moment of raining down snowy hell is what I strive for.

We’ll still have one more release for the year on the 26th so this doesn’t quite wrap 2024 for us, but we are getting there. I hope you all have a great holiday season and spend some time taking care of yourself and the people you care about. Later on today, we’ll have a festive “creature” to go along with this item. Hopefully you enjoy him!

We highly encourage you to join our Discord server where you’ll get access to exclusive channels that have sneak peeks, behind the scenes chatter, and more.

thank you!

Hey Chris! Slowed in PF2E falls off after the start of your next turn if a duration is not specified. So for all of these, the duration is "until the start of your next turn".

For the PF2e one, what would you say is the Slow duration?
