When I was in primary school, my two best friends had a Nintendo DS and they would always play together and show each other their Nintendogs or whatever.
One of them was literally the sweetest kid on earth and whenever I came over she'd offer me her DS, and I would stay there and just play for hours (I would've kicked me out lol)
The other one wrote me a letter someday, out of the blue, in which she stated she didn't wanna be friends anymore because we didn't have any "common interests" (We were, like, 10). We never talked to each other again.
Sometimes when I write or draw stuff I ask myself if it's all just coincidence. Only in very rare cases I make a conscious decision to take something from my personal life and put it into a story or drawing. It's only in hindsight I often realize "Hm... I've been in a similar situation". So I wonder if my experiences subconsciously influence what kind of stories I like to tell, or if it's simply just confirmation bias.
