Puss in Boots: The Last Wish (2022) * FULL LENGTH REACTION

Thank you to Marble winner silverarrow06 for this movie pick!!!

So many amazing things in this movie!!!

I'm still taken aback by the atmosphere shift of a simple whistling. Instantly one of the better ways to really send chills down your spine.

This is, hands down, my favourite Shrek universe movie. And plus the animation was just so different and engaging.

A wonderfully heartfelt, comedic movie with such well written characters 🥰

For this style of reaction, you need your own copy to watch the movie.  You can set picture in picture by right clicking twice on the video and selecting "Picture in picture". The right clicking twice is a bit tricky, because you have to right click, then move your cursor so it's not on the menu, then right click again

Thank you so much everyone for your support, you are amazing!!

It seems no one was expecting this movie to be so amazing!! I love how Death just has to whistle and the whole scene changes immediately. Puss in on edge, terrified, and the visuals are just so fitting. We definitely need more antagonists like Death!!

I love this movie, when I first saw it i did not expect it to have one of my now favorite antagonists/villans but Death is just so well done. Not to mention the visuals are fantastic.

I'm so glad that it managed to do well at the box office! This is the first time I heard of this happening, usually the opening weekend is the biggest weekend, then it slowly dies down. It just goes to show how important marketing is, because without it, people don't know enough about it and are left to assume once it comes out. Death is an antagonist to Puss in Boots yeah, and he's so well done. The constant fear is shown throughout at every turn, which just builds the tension. The confrontation with all of Puss' lives was really well done too. I'm so glad they made this and went in a very different direction than Shrek, it's instantly a favourite!

This is legitimately one of my favorite movies of the past decade, and to think it comes from a side character whose whole gimmick is just if Zoro was a cat from Shrek of all things. Seriously I have no idea how this movie even got made, it is so vastly different from Shrek in every way that its hard to believe they both take place in the same universe. Even the first Puss in Boots movie is nothing like this it's insane. They really captured lightning in a bottle with this one. As the other comment mentioned there was very little to no marketing for this movie, and since the first PiB movie was just okay people weren't really expecting anything from this, so it was really sad to see at first the box office numbers were not looking good and it was getting really close to being a financial flop. Luckily though, and I've never seen this before besides maybe one other instance, more and more people started showing up after the word of mouth about how great it was slowly started spreading around, and it did astronomically better in its later weeks than opening weekend for numbers. I forget the final grossing but it made well above it's budget and marketing and turned itself around into a huge success which I'm ecstatic for, because the team behind this deserved it. Animation, stunning and really inspired by Spiderverse with the lower frame rates during action sequences, score is amazing and Fearless Hero was in my Spotify wrapped the year this came out lol. Voice acting fantastic across the board, Banderas's silky voice can narrate anything and sound good to the ears, the antagonist Death is one of the best animated villains of this modern Era and also voiced tremendously. And if you think about it, he's not really a villain, an antagonist sure, but in all actuality, he's just doing his job, albeit cheating a little bit. But the way Puss just so casually ignored his mortality and threw all of his lives away when everyone else only gets one chance really was a spit in the face to death, and he had to show him that.

Thanks for picking this movie!!! I feel like there are a lot of movies nowadays that are released without much marketing or hype. They just show up and we have no idea where they came from haha. The team who worked on this should work on more movies/TV series, they seem to have a good idea on how to make a great story. Having a villain AND an extra separate antagonist was really cool. I agree with everything you said! It's so incredibly well done, and Goldi and the Bears were such a great team to see. Mama Bear was just perfect. The Wild Robot is still in theatres it seems, so it'll be a bit longer until it's available on a streaming platform, but I am curious to see it!

Thanks for your heartfelt reaction, I'm so happy you loved this one. 🤩 When this movie came out, it seemingly came out of nowhere. I hadn't seen any ads, trailers or a big campaign - it was totally below my radar. The first one was made 11 years before this one and would be long forgotten, if it wasn't part of the "Shrek universe". Suddenly this was just there and it blew me away. I'm eternally thankful for the person at Dreamworks that said "let's give this another shot"...😊 This movie was funny (I love it's dark humor), tragic, clever, surprisingly mature, beautifully animated and perfectly voiced. It had a big heart for its characters, a villain who is so unique these days, as he is straight up unredeemable and blatantly obvious about it and a really scary antagonist on top of it all. It touches so many serious subjects, bears some bitter truths and yet it never loses its optimism. 😊 The similarities between the life with the "crazy cat lady" and actual retirement homes are so true. I met many old people living in these homes and they feel exactly like Puss'n Boots. "Forever Home" sounded like a threat for a reason. Puss' panic attacks are depicted so realistic. Loneliness, fear of commitment or fear of death aren't the usual topics when it comes to family friendly animation movies.🙈 You're absolutely right - I've never heard a more fear inducing whistling since Rammsteins "Engel"...😨🙈 Goldilocks and the bears were such a great family. Especially Momma Bear, she was true to her name. I fell in love with all of them from the get go...😊 Talking about details: I've noticed the scar througout the movie. 🙂 When Puss cries at his grave, you can even see his mascara running under his eyes towards the end...😂🙈 Yes, Kitty was introduced in the first movie and her and Puss got closer at the end, but none of the things they talked about here were part of this movie. The end was created especially to tease "Shrek 5", planned release is 2026. If a movie (or TV-show for that matter) is heartfelt, has greatly written characters, a gripping, intelligent story and great visual storytelling I'm in - and this movie has all of it. 😍 P.S.: If you ever get around to "The Wild Robot", it plays easily in the same league as this one...😊🙌🏻
