Thank you to our September Marble winner Michaela for this one!! π₯°
What a fantastic, yet frustrating movie!! I am amazed at the resilience and passion of others. It's also really astonishing how this is only 60 years ago, when society was so ridiculous different.
Canada wasn't as extreme as the USA with segregation, there were no laws for it, but it was still present. In a similar vein, we had residential schools, and the last one closed down in 1997! That is WAY too recent!!
I love Kevin Costner's character in this movie. He is such a breath of fresh air compared to Paul. He wasn't aware of everything going on, but when he did find out, he was fair about it all. It didn't matter what race or gender Katherine was, she could do the math and the job, so he allowed her more freedom than douchebag did.
While I like movies that have a sad ending, it's always nice to see movies with a positive one too! π₯°
For this style of reaction, you need your own copy to watch the movie. You can set picture in picture by right clicking twice on the video and selecting "Picture in picture". The right clicking twice is a bit tricky, because you have to right click, then move your cursor so it's not on the menu, then right click again

Thank you so much everyone for your support, I couldn't do this without you π₯°
