Firefly Episode 14 * FULL LENGTH REACTION

11/10 dialogue in this episode!!

So witty and fun 🥰

This does leave me wanting more, since there are still a lot of loose ends to the story lines which I hope the movie will help out with.

Also, such a great antagonist and quickly too!  I was hoping for the reavers to show up at some point, but maybe that's the movie 🤔

I think this series would have been amazing had some nincompoops not cancelled it so early 😒

Next, it's time for SERENITY!!! 🤩

For this style of reaction, you need your own copy to watch the episode.  Also know there is an extension that allows you to do Picture-in-Picture in case you are interested: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/picture-in-picture-extens/hkgfoiooedgoejojocmhlaklaeopbecg?hl=en

Firefly Episode 14 * FULL LENGTH REACTION

Comments

1. Yes!! I love just how different and seemingly so well thought out/planned her character was. It's a treat being able to go back and see how everything connect and it all makes sense! 2. He is terrifying! Such an amazing villain, and bizarre too... let's not forget that part 🤣 The threats he makes, you KNOW he has no issues carrying through with them. 3. I feel like it would have been a VERY weird direction to take on the last episode. River becoming Serenity. It would have just taken a massive turn and not really be in line with everything else. 4. I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE!!! 😁And yes, I love that he just threw that line out there because I want to know more!! 5. I feel like Simon has a lot to learn, but he's not a coward. Especially given the fact that he rescued River like that. He could have been rich and lived an easy life, but he is so kind and caring, that he gave it all up for River. 6. I love that she has been accepted!! All it took was a few words from Mal to finalize everything, it was just sweet and perfect. I'm sure Season 2 is right around the corner 😨 Thanks for all of this, I love reading what others thought of the episode/movie!!!

I wish I had a big long brownish-colored coat like Mal's. I just think it's so cool.

Things that always stuck out to me about this episode. (Edit: I've done my gorramdest not to spoil anything upcoming. Community let me know If I did -- I'll fix it.) 1. I adore the opening where they show us just why/how river gets confused. It was great to finally see things from her perspective. How she intuits things. And when one rewatches the series, you realize that all the weird stuff she's been saying all along is actually intelligible and makes sense, (from her perspective). It's never random nonsense. (Thinking of the scene where she's talking about apple bits coming up and how she wishes she could function like she's a regular girl and how frustrating it is for her to be confused about what is real or not). I think the writers were so smart that they planned ahead with all that stuff. Also I love the way she moves through the ship, touching the walls, feeling the spaceship floors through her bare feet. 2. Jubal Early terrifies me. In a TV show, I don't think I've ever been so stressed and scared, and angry, as when he was in the engine room with Kaylee. 3. When River "became" Serenity, part of me actually believed it. I thought maybe that was the left-turn direction the show going in. Even though we'd seen that there's no aliens or really super-weird shit in the 'verse, and that it's pretty grounded in a reality.... I still thought it might just be possible. They sold it so well. And they set it up with, "That sounds like something out of science fiction." "You live in a spaceship, dear." "...So?" 4. "Pfft. That ain't no shepherd." What a line to throw in there. Gets the mind wandering. Does that seem right to you? 5. I always put myself in Simon's position, how would I have handled that impossible situation. Waiting for his moment. From the start of the series he was never some tropey cowardly doctor trope, and I appreciate that. "Well you ain't weak," as Kaylee says. 6. I think it took some kind of crazy event like this to finally get the crew to accept River. So much to love in this episode. When does season 2 come out?

"What could have been"... such haunting words. If only we could have more seasons of Firefly. You've come to the final stop of the journey. Serenity is right around the corner. Which means only one thing, you need to get fitted for your "Brown coat" you have totally earned it.

Oh interesting, I look forward to seeing what the movie is like then! I have to agree, it's a solid finale. I assumed that a lot of things would be open ended since it seems like they didn't have much time from hearing about the cancellation and the last episode being filmed, but it was very satisfying. Of course I would have loved to have learned more about Book's past, but I understand that it's not possible to answer all the questions

This episode felt so well planned and executed with the banter, and showing us more about River! I love it :D As for favourite episode.. probably "Out of Gas", which I just looked up and is episode 8 😁But like you said, all of the episodes are amazing for one reason or another, I still really like the episode where they steal from the hospital, and Jayne just blurts out what he spent hours rehearsing when he didn't have to. And then Mal at the end dealing with Jayne. All the characters have been fantastic and such a joy to get to know and watch 🥰

What a way to end the series😂

Just a heads up, Serenity is kind of a soft reboot, since they were trying to appeal to new audiences, so some minor things are retconned, some character development and dynamics are reset, but it’s nothing too major. There is also a 3 part comic series that bridges the gap between the series and the movie that attempts to explain some of those inconsistencies, but it’s probably better to read that after the movie if you’re interested. As for this episode, it’s definitely one of my favourites, and a surprisingly solid finale all things considered, with River being accepted as one of the crew. Jubal Early is one of the show’s best villains, and despite how he ended up, I suspect he would have returned somehow if the series had continued.

Yeah, the dialogue here was outstanding. Both Early and (a lucid) River are great springboards for banter. Also loved how quickly and effectively the show was able to give viewers some context of what its like in River's head. And I know its a little soon yet, and everything may need a rewatch, but did you have a favorite episode? (Mine's still 8, but I deeply love all of them for one reason or another.)

Richard Flores

That last line of the show, "well, hear I am" 🤣
