It's not word for word, as this is a wonky translation of a shorten quote. Afaik the original quote in the officially translated novel was: "Three things make a man: the homeland he was born into, the blood running through his veins, and the bonds he forms. If you have none of those and try to preserve your soul with naught but your pride, you will eventually lose your sense of self and crumble into nothing. The first part was shortened in the anime to (this is my own translation with my questionable skill at Japanese): "People are shaped by their local ties and blood ties. (or to leave it in the style of the official translation "It's his local ties and blood ties that make up a man") And Crunchyroll apparently thought it was a good idea to translate it as "Blut und Boden" even though nothing she actually says has anything to do with the twisted perversion that is the Blut und Boden Ideology of the Nazi regime. (My version has different subs so initially I didn't realize what the hell people were talking about). There is also Shin quite prominently reading "Im Westen nichts Neues" (All Quiet on the Western Front) from Erich Maria Remarque, a German veteran of WWI. A semi-autobiographical book portraying the trauma of war and being if anything a critique of nationalism.

I am not saying the author is a nazi (they're a huge wheraboo tho, which is a person enthusiastic of german war machinery and sometimes aesthetics from WW2) or that the show promotes them... but is literally Nazi talk, like word for word

It is a horrible mistake, but the Crunchyroll subs say a certain date, but if you read the real numbers down below they are different. Its a huge mistake and could effect Autosave's understanding of the timeline of events. Episode 16 has this mistake. If you can please forward this message to them as it could be a major misunderstanding. Just look down and see the actual numbers used not what the subtitles say.
