As much as that's somewhat true until the last test, Serie wouldn't let someone like that pass. They really are amazing mages in their own right, and I think that is because humanity's magic is evolving and improving at an ever accelerating rate. I see magic in this world as science (like how we saw mages cracking Zoltraak together, clipboards in hand and everything.) In our IRL case, we made more scientific discoveries in the past 100 years than all of the recorded history before that, and that pace is only increasing. I think something similar is happening in the world of Frieren, but with magic.
Still, it really may have just been a bumper crop this year.

As for Denken's privilege, I hope he asked for a spell that Serie would think of as useless. He was a military mage who, for most of his life, was in the midst of political intrigue and war, and it was Frieren who made him realize his love for magic wasn't completely lost. I actually hope he chose the spell to create a field of flowers, so he could decorate his wife's grave with it.

If I have zero interest in food (i ear tv dinners for all meals for last 20+ years) is it at all interesting?

What a Perfect Finale!
Frieren truly is a special story, that came out of almost nowhere to win all of our hearts.
Don't cry, It would be Embarrassing when we meet again for Season 2!

I hope you will watch some Romance Anime as well. Dangers in my Heart would certainly be great. Other than that Delicious in Dungeon and Code Geass would be great.

Actually, maybe Frieren is really the reason why there's so many examinees passing this time. Because they saw Frieren and they're inspired by her presence making themselves actually took on the challenges.

After rewatching this finale, the one thing that I missed during my first watch, is that Freiren refused to cry at Himmel's funeral because of what Himmel said... "We will come across each other again, and it'll be embarrassing if I cry now". It's very touching. It's also how she acted with the rest of the original party. Shed just dip like it was nothing.

I cannot express how much I love this series. Himmel is my GOAT. I love every character and how the interact within the story and push the main points of this series across to the audience. Frieren is so amazing as a character. Himmel couldn't win against time in order to properly love Frieren but he created his future with her anyways. He will always be there for her throughout her journeys and hopefully the time will come to where we get probably the most heartbreaking moment of the entire series when Frieren finally gets to see Himmel in Heaven. Two things I really love about this episode.
1. Frieren points out that Serie is putting up a front with how she talks about any of her students, and gets her going into a really touching sentimental moment about how every one of her students was special and remembered no matter what they do.
2. There's a quick little cut in the ending sequence of still shots of Ehre introducing Lernen to the others on her team, finishing what she referenced during the first test, that her grandfather is a first-class mage and she'd introduce them to him. I just think it was a cool little small scale pay-off for people paying attention
With Frieren wrapped up I'm hoping it's a free slot for Violet Evergarden to get another shot at getting in the rotation. Thanks for the great reactions and discussions about a wonderful show.
