2024-01-21 02:54:30 +0000 UTCI use the Betadine Cold Defense spray, which is easy to use, scentless, and no sting or pain associated with use. It's relatively cheap (around 15 CAD for a bottle that's probably good for 70 pumps, probably enough for a person for 10 days) and easy to buy in Canada, but not commercially available in the US. The evidence of effectiveness is sparse but tantalizing. I think of it as just a layered defense with a good fitting N95 mask being the primary defense. It's supposed to make the upper respiratory track hostile to coronavirus infections and nip it in the bud, so it's advised to keep up the spray regime for a day or two after exposure.

2024-01-19 13:32:45 +0000 UTCJB I agree with you on your astute diagnosis and on all those preventive measures, certainly in theory. On a personal level you are more vigilant than me. I bought some bentadine, but don't quite know what to do with it. I use/have used the N95 mask -- certainly on airplanes -- if I have a chance to travel, which I hope to do again soon. Like you, I am a big supporter of ventilation. My 100-yr-old house fortunately is very drafty, since it was constructed when ventilation was mandatory, and I have fans and filtering setups in the window and various makeshift filtering contraptions in the bedroom and diniing room.
