2023-10-10 17:47:26 +0000 UTCAlso, the China/Afghanistan border thing seems a little overstated. The lowest pass is 16000ft and goes to a rugged and militarized area of China. I've looked into going there (long ago), but never been. Wakhjir Pass is the place, but there is no road. Some say there's some drug traffic via mules etc, but it's really tough stuff. I think they could still do belt-and-road efforts through neighboring countries. But, sometimes these borders are there because the mountains are so gnarly and not really passable.
