JFK and Nasser (AE116; EDS 26) - Video

We look at JFK’s admirable but doomed attempt to repair US-Egyptian relations and stabilize the Middle East by working with Nasser. This is the 26th installment of our Empire and the Deep State series--an in-depth exploration of my new book American Exception: Empire and the Deep State. Again I am joined by series co-host Ben Norton of Multipolarista as well our own Seamus McGuinness who is producing the series.

FDR was positively unbothered by Latin American countries nationalizing their resources . Perón, a Military General, raised his countrymen‘s income in the 1940s by 50 % through a program that included nationalization of resources and extensive building of schools and hospitals, so that by the early 50s Argentina was one of the wealthiest countries in the world (Europe's economies having been devastated by WW2). Peron was explicitly imitating FDR, and was hated by Communists and imperialists alike. Late in life he became a raging egomaniac but his early economic policies were very successful, and earned him an undying following. This was laid out in an interview on the Radio War Nerd EP #185 — Perón & Peronism, June 18, 2019 Guest: Pablo Ben [associate professor at San Diego State University.]

This is a very interesting revelation about the “new atheists”, a faction of which patrol the Wikipedia article on Humanism, deleting its long history in favor of an excessively rigid, narrow and intolerant modern atheist version. Sociobiology is anti-humanist.
