Episode 72: Mind the GWOT (LS9/11 Part 1)

Ben Howard and Aaron kick off the Long Shadow of 9/11 series with a discussion on their own personal reckonings with the great terror spectacle of 2001.

The first article in the series is now up at American Exception: “Prequel to Terror: The 9/9 Massoud Assassination.

Special thanks to Seamus McGuinness for his editorial work on the article, to Casey Moore for the episode art, and to Dana Chavarria for the sound engineering!

Also my mom also woke me up on 911 saying the same thing and I had the same reaction, oh this is going to suck. I watched it tho

Damn your mom let you stay home from school

I'm hoping that Peter will be back soon, but it is out of my hands at present.

on another note, how is Professor Scott doing? Are you going to continue that series you were doing with him when he is feeling better? That last episode was getting into the stuff that I find to be the most intriguing. (Which isn’t to say that I don’t find the rest of it interesting.)

Ahhhh gotcha. Hearing that, I am surprised that her show is still accessible on the Apple Podcasts platform. I did notice there is a little “E” next to the show name though, the same exact one that they use on their Music platform to indicate it explicit language & content. Like I said, I haven’t listened to many episodes but the ones I have heard I don’t recall hearing any explicit language. 😒

B. Lund

She got kicked off Patreon a while back. Don't know much more beyond that.

Wait, what happened with Whitney Webb? I have listened to some episodes of Unlimited Hangout over the past couple years, and I remember listening to a few media roots episodes where it was she and Robbie, but i haven’t had the time to listen to either show recently, so I guess I must have missed some news?

B. Lund

listening to Ben talk about 9/11 stuff is my ASMR

I have not heard anyone else say this. Maybe try and resubmit the RSS link or re-install castbox or use the link with a different app...

Aaron Good

Is anyone else having issues w the RSS feed? I'm sorry if this has been addressed elsewhere but I'm getting errors for all the episodes now on castbox using the patron rss feed.

Mental passificaion might even be worth a series of its own. It no longer seems like anyone has to manufacture consent as many struggle to read, or focus for an extended period of time. The ability to converse in a civil manner is also dying. Identity politics is an amazing tool for creating division.

Re delisting comments. Think they like to have a a place where we all end up so they don't have to look too hard. Honestly I think elements of the alphabet soup crowd need a place to get their news as well. Many of the true alternative journalists provide a bunch of open source intelligence that the slackers within cia can just copy paste and call it work for the day. Infighting is standard divide and conquer the overwhelming majority of the time is self inflicted which is as hilarious as it is sad. Mental passification is also endemic out there.

There is nothing uncool about mourning your dog’s passing. We bond with our pets like we do with people. That grief can be substantial.

"You are what you eat" translates into what a Buddhist monk named Thich Nhat Hans described in his introductory texts on the Buddhist philosophy of the Noble Eightfold Path, where the idea of consuming things applies to all of your senses and includes what you see and breathe. (I'm resorting to the expression, he did a masterful job of conveying the ideas.) Hearing that you avoided watching the Towers fall just for the sake of having seen the terrible spectacle makes me wonder if you had a natural inclination to be a great monk, before you started using the tube to zone out. ;)
