It happened. With the IPL is a biosecure fortress, Maxi has agreed to be our contact on the inside. First up is the escape from quarantine, and the chaos of pre-tournament week, where capitalism matters more than cricket. The video is above, the audio pod is here.
This won't be a live show as such, like previous times with a guest and a structure tailored to an audience, but we want to try something. Since we currently have to record by video call, we can open up that video link to you good folk when we record a normal weekly show. Anyone who is interested can sit in and see that show happen in real time, with bonus mistakes. And we can have a chat or do some Q&A with anyone on the call afterwards. It'll probably be Tuesday April 20, subject to confirmation, at around 10am UK / 7pm AEST.

In the meantime, our weekly show this week was Episode 28 of the soon-to-be-completed Season 9. Hear it here.
And it was with none other than Tiger Tim of Ireland. He has quite the story. From bowling the first ball in Irish Test cricket, to triumphs with Middlesex, to missing out on World Cups by agonising margins. On the eve of his final contracted season, with his 40th birthday approaching fast, he sat down with us to talk through it all.
Also on this show: Australia's women set a world record winning streak, the Sheffield Shield finalists are decided after a busy final round, plus a dash of Bannerman Watch.
Just the one Nerd Pledge:
5.51 – Andrew Tuttle

On the preceding weekend it was Story Time, about the batsman who spent three days presumed dead in no-man's-land only to become an unexpected Test cricketer 15 years later. Stick around to hear the curiosities about WG's highest Test score and one of Jack Hobbs' finest hours. A classic Scottish name comes later, likewise a 1984 thriller. We also mark a place for a double that'll never be forgotten at Tallangatta CC: a salute to Torquil McKillop.
Your new Nerd Pledge numbers:
5.01 – Mark Henderson
2.58 – Abhilash Singh
3.85 – Ethan Morgan
3.52 – Pat McKeon
1.70 – Cameron Allen
7.27 – Elia Andrews
4.10 - Bernie Prins
Plus revisits and confirmations.
Looking at all of that, it's been quite the week. Thanks for taking the ride with us.
