Hey all. Been a while.
Apologies for the lack of updates. I lost a very good friend in August, and it's been pretty rough. It's been hard to work on anything, and especially hard to work on this project, since I was always showing him my WIPs and getting feedback to improve each shot. But I'm sure he'd want me to keep going, so it's time to get back at it.
So, sad stuff out of the way... this next shot in Hikari's Dilemma (Newgrounds / Vimeo / Youtube) came out phenomenally.
Again, I started out with the original frame from the comic, then did quite a bit of re-drawing to make sure everything was on model, and then prepared everything to go into After Effects.

I had considered attempting traditional animation on this shot, but.... I honestly wasn't confident of the motion. Traditional Animation is definitely faster... if you know what your doing. The benefit of rigged animation is that you can easily change the animation on the fly, without having to re-draw everything. So puppet it is.
And it came out pretty sweet.
