Hikari's Dilemma - Shot 29 - Oops, I lied

Took a tiny break from Hikari's Dilemma (Newgrounds / Vimeo / Youtube) last month to work on the TMNT animation (which came out better than I could've hoped), but now it's back to Evangelion!

If you recall, last time I said shot 19 would be the last traditionally animated closeup I'd do. Well, I lied. Doing these traditionally animated closeups is just so satisfying, and they look amazing!

As always, I started off with the original frame from the comic.

I've pretty much got the timing scheme down for these shots, thought it changes slightly. I whipped out this rough real quick.

Then I took a break to work on the TMNT Animation. :P Once that was done, I got back to this and finished up the lineart and colored everything. I did go through A LOT of redrawing, especially on both of their pussies. My original line art was, uh... rough. But thanks to the help of some of my artist friends, I managed to pull it off.

Also managed to add in a little glimpse of Hikari's public hair as well, since I think it'd be visible from this angle. Pubic hair is pretty rare, in anime, and I often think that it's not drawn well / too stylistically different from the standard cell shading look, but I think I like the look I've ended up with.

And there you have it! Now, THIS one is probably the actual last closeup. Probably.

Time to get back to the bigger shots. I was looking through some of the early shots I did for Hikari's Dilemma, and ooof. I've improved enough that I'm going to have to go back and redo a few of them. Ah, well. That's the danger of long projects.
