Excitement and Nerves: What Comes Next?

We’re getting close to the moment of truth — Champion of Venus’s release into Steam Early Access! It’s been a lot of work; turns out publishing a game to the world’s biggest online game retailer isn’t a simple process. But it’ll all be worth it to see that swanky store page and those two beautiful words: ‘Coming Soon’.

Why Early Access?

The current build ends on a cliffhanger: the villain’s on the backfoot, but she’s about to deploy her secret, greatest weapon. In the final act, Rayne will face her most dangerous foe yet: the Law.

Besides that, there are plenty of areas that need sprucing up: unfinished backgrounds and ero pics, a lack of voice acting, UI elements that remain unchanged from Ren’Py’s default… Releasing in Early Access will help me fix all these little issues, and bundle all this lewdness in a package that positively sparkles.

Champion of Venus is expected to stay in Early Access for about a year.

How much will Champion of Venus cost?

I’m pricing it at $5.99. That’s about the price of… Actually, I’m not American. Two hamburgers that are priced $2.99 and a half-cent each? It’s around the price of a $3.50 hamburger that includes fries and a drink for $2.49 extra. Or maybe a $7 train fare except you only have $6, but the fare collector takes pity and—

Enough of that, you boob. How do I hide Champion of Venus from my Steam account?

In your games library, right-click on Champion of Venus > Manage > Hide this game. You could also download it on a second Steam account, if you want to be extra sneaky.

Patreon Tier Changes.

Until now, all patrons have had access to the most recent game version. Backer builds will continue to be made available, but the specifics will change. As usual, all patrons will get roles in the Umbrelloid Discord channel.

$30, $20, and $10 patrons… Will receive Steam keys for Champion of Venus, on top of their monthly writing prompts.

$5 and $3 patrons… Will gain access to the most recent backer builds via my Discord, plus the HD art folder.

$1 patrons… Will gain access to the second most recent backer build, also released via Discord.

To avoid people abusing this system, I will set Patreon to take money immediately upon subscription.

These changes will take effect when Champion of Venus enters its 'Coming Soon' state.
