REport: Your Annual Seasonal Weirdness

HeyJ, crew! Here's what's happening at RE today! Never fear, for all the ambiguity, we'll get into the upcoming musical later in the video, too. Thanks for being part of our goofy projects!

Beard Salute!

I think uploading as “MUSIC” is the way to go. I realize “GAMING” is very much your theme, but that category is gonna be loaded with people looking up tutorials or walkthroughs, and Let’s Plays. Maybe even boring technical stuff like game development, or history. They’re probably not gonna be in the mood to stop and listen to a musical. Your primary product is catchy-as-heck songs. (And accompanying video.) They may be ABOUT games, but you put too much work into them to disregard the “Music.” (JAY-Z raps about getting rich, but you wouldn’t classify it as “Finance” 😜) Meanwhile, people exploring “MUSIC” are probably much more willing to sit through, appreciate, and analyze the lyrics. They’ll recognize classical references to stuff like “Anything You Can Do, I Can Do Better.” And probably they’d be more likely to search back through your previous songs. Or they’ll find you via recommendation from other musicians with video-game inspirations. This might be cynical, but ALGORITHMICALLY, you’ll probably get recommended to people who are more likely to PURCHASE your music, or who have paid YouTube Music or Spotify accounts, etc. Now I’m rambling on about stuff I don’t know. But I do believe that if the rest of the crowd is doing “MUSIC” then the best thing you could do is keep yourself grouped with them. 👍 I’m thrilled for you guys though! Engineer already took over BETTER in one week!!! 😲
