My last experience with homemade trading cards was in 5th grade, when Pokemon cards were HUGE and still allowed in school - my best friend is an artist, and she made a character called Bob. She made a series of Bob cards and had a distribution scheme for it, but it was just paper. No stickers or anything fancy like that.
