Gaming Suggestions
Added 2017-06-08 18:41:00 +0000 UTCHeyJ guys! There's been lots of talk of finding new games to play together (generally something private, without player caps, that everybody owns or can get for free.)
If you'd like to suggest some games for us to try, we'd love to check a few out and possibly add them to our rotation. Thanks! 🙂

After today's discussion I looked a bit more at the possibility of playing a Civilization game. Unfortunately people report that large multiplayer games get very unstable. While you can play with more than six players, it isn't recommended.

2017-06-13 19:07:18 +0000 UTCHave they increased the maximum number of players? Some of us have the game, but last I checked it only supported 6 people which meant it wasn't a viable option.

2017-06-13 15:45:02 +0000 UTCI would suggest Don't Starve Together, but that's not free. (It's $14.99 on Steam, and you get an extra copy with it.)

2017-06-12 01:27:52 +0000 UTCThat'd be fun but, like my suggestion, it would require a lot of commitment. I'm in a D&D homebrew, and I missed two meetups. The whole group is mad at me and now have to catch me up when I see them again.

2017-06-08 20:32:11 +0000 UTCMMO RPGs usually require a lot of commitment which can be fun but it sounds like a game that would be best played long-term, and I'm not sure a lot of patrons will want to play it for a long period of time. I'd still try it out though.

2017-06-08 20:27:59 +0000 UTCI also like Town of Salem, but I do have more experience than a lot of others in the game. I agree that it's a bit boring when you die early, but regardless it is fun and gives people a reason to learn the game: to try to survive the game longer. I have never seen gameplay of Paragon or TF2 but am willing to give it a go if my laptop can handle it.

2017-06-08 20:23:53 +0000 UTCI've wanted to try roll20 but in my experience D&D is generally best with a party of 4-6. I have a hard time imagining a party of 10-14 working with people popping in and dropping out in every week's one hour session.

2017-06-08 20:16:48 +0000 UTCParagon - a free MOBA with support for 10 players. It is rather difficult to find good games that allow enough players to be viable possibilities for Patreon gaming. Particularly when their being free is also an important consideration. TF2 might be worth trying again since there are a lot of new Patrons who weren't around when the group's interest in it waned. I do like Town of Salem but it's hard for new players and people who die early wind up sitting around waiting while everyone else plays.

2017-06-08 20:08:59 +0000 UTCI think it might be fun, but it could be very inconsistent on who plays each week since not a lot of people will be available each week. You would have to create a story that deals with that inconsistency if we did.

2017-06-08 19:33:45 +0000 UTCOne more side comment. The games in brawlhalla have a cap of 8 people, so it would probably be a game that is better for when there are less people

2017-06-08 19:31:32 +0000 UTCBrawlhalla is one I play daily. It's a lot like Smash Bros. but with slightly different mechanics and characters. It is completely free in Steam. I also have played scribbl.io which is a website that you draw things based on a word you get, and everyone else tries to guess the word.

2017-06-08 19:29:34 +0000 UTCDungeons & Dragons on roll20.com. you can use virtual maps and character icons, all the dice rolls are easy and calculated automatically. If you guys want to give it a try I'll set up a game to teach the rules and DM for everyone. *It's Alec*

2017-06-08 19:10:26 +0000 UTCA suggestion would be Maplestory, a free-to-play MMO RPG. It's a dead game, however, so it's not hard to get quiet servers where we'd be by ourselves. It's really fun with friends and the classes can work well hand in hand. I really enjoyed this game when I had friends to play it with. Taking bosses down, doing quests, etc. If we want to do this game, however, you might want to start the installation day prior because it's a big game. It takes my computer a few hours to install it. I also have Quiplash, Drawful 2, and Use Your Words. But, that'd be only for when there aren't many people.
