Developer Update #116

Hello all,

As of right now the last few missing images for update 0.4.8 are being rendered. Internal (that is: me) testing is done and I should be pushing a build out to beta test tonight.

I'm still aiming for a Friday 24th May release (to patreon) but this depends on how many issues are found during the beta test.

Recently there have been reports of some external sites having bad actors add malicious code into games before uploading and distributing them. This was identified and the site in question has taken additional security steps to try to prevent this happening again.

Although Dreams of Reality was not one of the games affected, this doesn't mean that a bad actor could not decide to insert their own code into the code base for this game. I want to stress that the only downloads featured on here have been uploaded by me, and though I will always provide clean links for any external sites once the game becomes public, I cannot control what sites they chose to upload too.

In an effort to add an additional layer of confidence to the downloads, for the forth-comming update (0.4.8) and future updates, I will be providing the SHA-256 Hash for each download type.

This Hash is a unique collection of letters that you can use to confirm that the zip file you have downloaded matches the zip file I have produced. For those that use WinZip 7, you can easily check the SHA-256 Hash by right-clicking to open the context menu and selecting CRC SHA, you will see a sub-menu with SHA-256. run that and confirm the HASH produced matches the one I have supplied.

If they are different then it does not always mean that the file contains a virus, only that the file has been changed in some way. Even though the next update will be locked to the $5 tier, the HASH will be made public.
