Happy New Year! (A look back at 2022).

Happy New Year!!

I hope everyone is having fun, and I hope the holidays have been relaxing and stress free (Well, we can hope, right?)

It's time to take a look back at the year of 2022, see where Dreams of Reality was and where it stands today.

Before I get to that, A message of heartfelt thanks to everyone reading this, weather you supported me financially this year, or just play the game and read the posts. I really do appreciate it.

Let's take a look at the goals I set at the start of the year:

- Complete Chapter 4
- Complete Steam release
- Increase my patron support to 50
- World domination

...oh dear.

Let's go with the easy win first, Patreon support, for a couple of months I did achieve above 50 supporters concurrently - So, I'm marking that as done. I am well aware this number might stay higher with more regular releases, but I'm staying true to providing good quality updates, rather than rushing small or incomplete ones. I am sure this is something that players would prefer.

Chapter 4 is very very nearly complete. I plan to have  a third part released next year and be on to making a start with the 5th and (at time of typing) final chapter.

The steam release was a thing, right up until it wasn't. I'm still a little sore over that, but other than throwing the toys out of my pram, there is nothing I can do to change this. Disappointing, but I've moved on.

World domination is on hold while I focus on other things.

Despite not achieving everything I wanted to, I still view 2022 as a successful year, the final part of chapter 3 released, and the first part of chapter four followed in the summer.

Additionally, I have been able to upgrade my GPU, through the financial support of the last couple of years I was able to get my hands on a new 4090. The image above was the first one rendered on the new card.

Much like the original investment of the computer, the GPU is a massive financial outlay, but I'm confident it is the right choice to help push my work further. I'm still getting to grips with just what the card is now capable of and it will be some time before I can leverage the full abilities the GPU offers me. I look forward to not having to stitch together scenes that are too big for the GPU memory.

With the hardware bottle neck out of the way, I'm really looking forward to seeing just what I am now capable off. I do plan to go back and re-render some of the earlier animations - however, this will be for after the next update.

I'll be making a post next week with my goals for 2023, but for now, this post is long enough.

Stay safe all,

Cenc
