Development Update #86

Hello everyone!

Lots of updates to give you this week, so let's get started:

Dreams of Reality 0.4.5

Let's start with the progress spreadsheet. I have now filled this out with all the scenes that are planned for the next release.

You may notice the 'night-time events' has been removed. I will go on to explain this later. For now, this is the complete list that I have planned, there is light at the end of the tunnel!

A large portion of last week was spent writing the Danielle scenes. the first path of this is complete, I have a second alternative path to write, which should not be too difficult as there is some story overlap between the routes. Of course, me being me this set of scenes has expanded more than originally planned and I still need to create the renders to go with it.

I have devoted last week and this week (and possibly some of the week after) into rendering the final animations, these are short 'character' shots, but due to the low level of lighting (its dark outside!) they require more time in the oven to bake.

I will be posting a special xmas image, this will be going up a few days before the 25th. Mainly due to me spending the holiday with family - My wife will kill me if I flip the laptop out and 'work' during Christmas.

As is tradition, I have recorded a video of me creating the render, this should be releasing soon. I may split it into 2 parts.

Bonus scenes

There is a plan for a bonus patron only scene in the next update - I will be creating a poll for what the scene actually will be, this should be going up later this week as well.

Splitting the update

I had intended the next update to include 'night-time' scenes, however the sheer scope of how many different combinations and the alternatives of each path at this point in the game means I will need to push that part of the update into a new ... part. So, there will be a part 3 to chapter 4. Not unsurprising given my penchant to expand scenes on the fly.

Moving this section of Chapter four into a separate release, will allow me the time to develop the scenes as required, and will also mean the next update will get into your hands quicker.

It also alleviates a lot of the (albeit self-imposed) time pressure. This is a hobby after all, maintaining a balance between full time work, being a dad, working on this game and other content whilst keeping some free time for myself can be difficult.

 This of course applies to all of us, so take some time out for yourself - If things feel like slipping away, remember there IS a tomorrow and no matter how much you may feel alone, things can and will get better.
