Stranger Things S2 Ep: 7-9 (FULL REACTION)

I was not ready for the highs and lows of this finale. Getting to see the whole gang finally reunite again was such a joy but I am still devastated after a certain somebody won't be with us anymore :( Enjoy!

Stranger Things S2 Ep: 7-9 (FULL REACTION)

Comments

So not sure if been mentioned or not but the actor who played the character we lose (don't want to say his name in case anyone reads comments before watching) when asked to be in the show (they asked him as they used one of his works as inspiration for the boys friendship group when the duffer brothers wrote the show) agreed if he could have a heroic death as was something he wanted to do but never had chance before with past roles. The character was originally supposed to survive. Also I love that once he agreed they wrote a few 'nods' to his past works within the show such as pirate treasure and x marks the spot among some more subtle ones.

Lisa - Marie

Rewatching this and realized that last scene was extra creepy when you add the music. The song.. every move you make, every step you take, the Mindflayer will be watching you. Eek!

KJ

I'm so excited for you to react to Season 3! Season 2 has some of my favorite episodes and my least favorite episodes, honestly haha;;Noah Schnapp(Will) did a stellar job this season(we really didn't get to see much in season 1), and the portrayal of the Shadow Monster is so haunting, and creepy, and so so cool! But Season 3 is my favorite, I think!! No spoilers, obviously; It's just so colorful and campy and I think it's a lot of fun; I always appreciate your commentary<3

Caspey

I like that Paul Riser's character turns out to be a good guy. It was smart casting considering most people remember him as the bad guy in Aliens. He had always played nice guy parts until then so it was a shock when he showed himself to be bad. This season played that in reverse. You think he's the bad guy because of his role on Aliens but turns out to be the good guy. Great writing. Also, when he calls someone kiddo that is in reference to Aliens. He called Ripley kiddo.

Melissa Creel

I remember just falling in love with Steve in this season. He is my precious, my favorite, my number one character 😂

Rhetorical Thrill

Cannot wait until you start season 3. Everyone loves Steve more every season, I bet you will too.

Jordan Young

I loved the storyline with Dustin and Dart. People who aren't familiar with 80s movies don't always get his purpose, but "hiding a freaky alien pet" was a VERY common trope for kids' movies at that time. And it made perfect sense for Dustin to be drawn to it when he was feeling so alone and left out. But Steve is a much better companion 🤣

Rhetorical Thrill

I think you're absolutely right. I remember watching it the first time it felt like it went on forever, imagine my surprise to see that it's actually only one episode!

Rhetorical Thrill

3 is my favorite, personally. The pop culture stuff is much more the style I enjoy, it's more stereotypical 80s, and the main location is unbeatable

Rhetorical Thrill

Pretty sure they put captions on automatically for non-English dialogue in an English audio 😊

Rhetorical Thrill

I only watched the show once before, when new seasons were released, and for some reason I thought the part with 8 went on for much longer than it did. I think it suffers in the binge model, when you're plowing through desperate to see what happens next in the main story, ep 7 just kills the momentum. This time around I was shocked to realize it was only one episode and I appreciated it a lot more.

Rhetorical Thrill

SAME 🤣

Rhetorical Thrill

sooooo excited for the next two seasons… they obviously get better cause the kids are older and the acting feels even richer but man the story is so so good

hannah

I will forever love the fact that Steve was supposed to die in the first season, but Joe Keery was so good and brought so much empathy to the character that the Duffers decided to change his fate. And while season 2 is the weakest of all so far, it is still an incredible feat of television

Neil Thollander

The man interacting with Billy in that scene you mentioned where he hits him and belittles him IS his dad.

Joni

As much as ep.7 is a skip for me when re watching, I feel it has to feel like a sharp break from tempo in order to understand just how lost El is - she has no real roots, hasn’t seen any of her friends for a year, is desperate to reconnect to her mother who herself can’t connect with anyone/anything. It is definitely needed even if it was ~perhaps~ a little poorly acted by certain cast members 🙃

Thomas B

So excited for the next seasons! I’m not one who dislikes Season 2 really, but I do think it’s the weakest season overall. But there are a few great parts! But I think you will really enjoy the next 2 seasons

Chris Mullen

Steve keeps getting his ass whooped.

Dave M.

Can't wait for your reaction to season 3 & 4

Fantasy Land

At the end max have the look to billy that she not scared of him and she is done and billy just calmly walks away

Fantasy Land

It be easy to know it's dart cus of the yellow mark line on the body, well Dustin for the most part did take care of dart

Fantasy Land

I completely agree. I still think giving that arc its own episode works better for the story than if they had split focused between episodes 6 and 7 spread out. It would have felt too disjointed moving back and forth between scenes in my opinion.

Fenixnade

100%, same sentiment here

Anna H

Bobs death it's too hard to watch again, man he shouldn't have stopped after opening door like why stop just keep going until fully outside, your not in the clear like obviously those creatures can break down anything

Fantasy Land

Never go in a elevator in an emergency that's dumb, why they even took forever to run when the demodogs were climbing up

Fantasy Land

I absolutely love Mom!Steve lol and I’m so glad to see you are loving seeing Steve with the kids. Definitely expect more of that in season three! Which if you don’t already know, you’ll meet the voice of Anxiety - Maya Hawk!

Amy Lillian

What a great season finale! I cannot wait for you to start season 3 ahhhh!!

JT

Bobs death was so sad and brutal, he could have lived if he didn't stop like he should have fully gotten out of the lab he was so close but stopped cus Joyce was there . Hopper could have kicked the demadogs not just shoot them when trying to save bob

Fantasy Land

True definitely justified to go after the bad men but they should make them suffer not give them an easy way out by dying, they should also be exposed for what they did, also Jane and her sister should make them bad guys be aware of why they are there to hurt them .

Fantasy Land

This really celebrates Dustin and Steve's friendship and I love them!! The way they play off each other and even with the age difference, they're still on the same wavelength. This whole season was fun. Bob...

KJ

Thank you!

jenNjuice84

this is so real, and i love ur cat pfp ;)

aleena

the school dances in movies and tv shows always have a crazy high budget lol. i never got anything that nice at a high school dance, let alone a middle school one 😭

aleena

I legit can't wait for more.

Recable

Your uploads make my week so much better! Thank you for creating good, wholesome content that is truly cozy! I enjoy watching all these shows and movies for the first time with you =) I can’t wait for the next season! Let’s go!!

jenNjuice84

Yes last few episodes let's go!! 😁

Fantasy Land

I've always read Mike and Hopper's one-on-one conversation/Mike's breakdown as a major emotional release; not so much anger, but his grief and his trauma of watching El sacrifice herself the year before, on top of how much he's compartmentalized it and kept it to himself all year, which is why, when it dissolves into him weeping, and Hop saying, "you're okay," it's so moving. I always thought it was incredibly subtle but emotionally powerful writing. I'm also so relieved you didn't hate Chapter 7. I've been so worried! I'm a big apologist for that episode and agree completely with your take. It's a character-driven episode, not a plot-driven one, which gives us a hard look into El's POV, being cut off from all the other characters. I likewise understand why it's not well-liked and the way it fits into the season structure is clunky, but it matters so much for El's characterization in the grand scheme of things, for El going off on her own and choosing to go back to Hawkins of her own free will. I really enjoy that.

Robin

I’m loving the haircut🥰

Sarah Wevers

Of all the things we thought would happen in season two of Stranger Things, Steve Harrington and Joyce Byers fighting for mother of the year was not one of them 🙌

Anna H

The Steve and Dustin friendship is one of my favorite things of the series. So wholesome!

Teej

Steve, the Mother of the group. Lol.

Kristen Patton

I can see why I liked it more than most people would have when all episodes came out at once to binge. Since I started the episode fresh after a week, the decreased tempo of the episode wasn’t as jarring to me.

Oscar

RIP to the legendary hero, Bob Newby.

Paul

im so excited for season3!!!

Natalia

I love the mostly wholesome happy ending of this season. Definitely going to miss Bob though 😭 Honestly the kid who plays Will was phenomenal this season. All of these kids are insane caliber of acting. And also, the Steve + Dustin friendship is absolutely epic 👌👌

Heather Geer

I’m so excited for these episodes!!

Ashlyn Crowe

totally agree, i think my ranking goes 4, 1, 2, 3, but truthfully 2 and 3 are on the sam level! love them both for different reasons

capricornmom

The particles that fly out of Will died the same as the rest of the Hive Mind. That is Billy's dad and the red head woman with him is Max's mom. Ted might be a better man than Billy, but he hasn't got Billy's hot bod! The scene where Billy and Steve fight in the kitchen, Dacre who plays Billy grabbed the wrong plate and hit Joe with a real one. Steve crying out and bending over was real and not acting.

Steven Jump

i agree. i think the main problem ppl had with it was the placement of the episode and also cause there isnt much action. its more of an episode dedicated to developing el’s character more. i think it would have worked better if they maybe combined ep 6 and 7!

Roj

i can understand some of the things ppl had a problem with in the season but i personally love the vibe. its just really fun and entertaining!

Roj

Yep. Just got to this part of the episode and I was as sad as the first time I saw it. They made that scene so incredibly hard to watch. One of my favorite characters from the season. Awful.

Teej

ripppp honestly episode 8 had me cryinggg also just a headsup, you might want to turn the captions on for seasons 3 and 4, seeing as there are characters speaking a different language

chvrrvism

It’s a very 50/50 episode with viewers, I’m not huge of a fan of it, at least the supporting characters that are in that episode. I watch it, because every time at the end of the episode when Kali makes El see Papa. And he says “You have a wound, Eleven. A terrible wound.” Chills.

Brady Renfro

oh i can't wait for you to watch season 3!! it's definitely ranked lower in people's rankings in terms of plot/moving the larger story along, but it's so fun in terms of seeing the kids become little teens and exploring the different friendships and dynamics!! and we get some awesome new characters :)

capricornmom

Such a (mostly) feel good finale!! Cherish the cute moments of happiness this show gives us😅 I think you're going to LOVE season 3, it's my personal favourite, so much fun!

Georgina Cussans

My bad, after looking into it further the Duffer brothers did say that they didn't have plans for a spinoff so it wasn't officially a pilot for Kali and the group - idk how much I believe that though bc I watch alot of shows that have done this and it very clearly felt like that and tbh it is Netflix's M.O 😂 Either way I think the placement of the episode is half of the reason people hate it because it feels completely removed from everything happening to the characters we really care about then being introduced to characters we don't know and don't particularly care for- it makes it a harder sell, I think if it had been placed earlier in the season it would've been received a little better, I appreciate it for the development of El's character and morals and even hope we see Kali again!

Georgina Cussans

we finally hit the classic will "YOUR MOM" meme haha

max

I loved your idea of anger being the easy way to fuel El's power. Kinda like Zuko and his firebending huh. <3

Lia

Maybe because of my age - I’m a gen Xr - so the nostalgia value was very high. The episode encapsulated so many 80’s themes, sights, sounds and situations (it was practically a stand-alone 80’s type action-sci-fi film).

Timothy Panngam

yayyy just in time for breakfast (ipad kid activities) ^-^

max

the main thing is that it really doesn't do anything for the show, it kinda just shows up and other than changing eleven's look for the remainder of the season, doesn't really make any kind of impact. it wasn't a story that needed to be told to progress the show, just a pointless detour

ajanim

I'm calling him Sam ) Sorry Bob, you'll always be the one who carried Frodo on his back ❤️‍🔥

Mariia K

AH YAY!!!

capricornmom

I think episode 7 is fine on it's own, and I think holds up a lot better in a non binge watch viewing experience. When you binge watch (like we tend to do when they release the seasons) this is a huge speed bump because you are in the middle of intense Hawkins action and then are forced to slow down to get this side quest and I think that's probably what makes it have a low reputation among viewers... and also it really feels adjacent to and not part of the show itself; no horror/scary atmosphere, it's just us running around in Chicago doing objectively normal tv show things.

Keeley Thurman

I liked episode 7 on my first watch but now when I am rewatching the show I do skip the episode. I do think it get a little too much hate for it. I personally like Kali's character.

Elizabeth Gidney

im confused. ive never seen anybody say it was supposed to be a backdoor pilot? it just seemed like it was supposed to be an episode for character development for el.

Roj

you always post the worst times for me😭 I’m going to six flags and won’t be back to my house until tomorrow:(

Belly

It's pretty universally hated😬😅 - mostly because it was supposed to be a backdoor pilot to a spinoff nobody really wanted I do like some things about the episode but overall I dislike it and tend to skip it

Georgina Cussans

The actor who played Max's father was really intense in that scene with her brother. I know he was playing an abusive jerk but he did a great job.

Timothy Panngam

Did people really say they didn't like episode 7? I thought it was pretty amazing.

Timothy Panngam

Yes! Morning made with this reaction. Thanks, Oscar!

Edualy Munoz

Not to spoil it for those who may not have seen these episodes yet, but yes, that specific loss you are talking about is incredibly sad. I remember when I saw that episode for the first time. I did not see it coming and it hit me like a brick wall.

Teej

My heart broke in the first episode as you said you were excited to see Sam 🥺 He did help save everyone though!! Sam remains a hero in my book! 💙

Will3000

Perfect timing! Thanks!

PUU_AME

I hope we didn’t pressure you!…. *whispers* but I’m so excited right now…
