The Iron Giant - FULL REACTION

This film is truly a work of art! The whole vibe was so charming and had such an endearing narrative; the friendship between a boy and a giant robot. Loved this! Enjoy :)

The Iron Giant - FULL REACTION

My sister and I love this movie even to this day. We watched together as kids. How you talked about just the edged of social media, we were too. Definitely relatable. πŸ™‚ Watchung this with you brought up some good memories of my sister and I watching together on the weekends.

Dean's voice sounded familiar to me so I looked it up, and he's played by Harry Connick Jr, which is the guy who was in P.S. I Love You as the friend that worked at her mom's bar!

Tbh i am guessing it flopped because it presented the american military and its leaders the way they are irl. Noone like that likes a mirror to show their real face. And since its an american movie, and success is often rated by views in america, many people probably had a problem with that mirror.

Looking forward to watching this, I haven't seen this movie in years. I'm also going to suggest The Last Unicorn again, and suggest The Pagemaster for the first time

Hello, this reaction was simply delightful. I think you would LOVE the wind rises. I’m not even requesting a reaction but I just think you would really really enjoy the movie xoxo

I watched the VHS of this movie soooo many times as a kid, I pretty much wore it out - I think actually my mum actually ended up buying a new one at some point, cos the old one was so wrecked xD Love this movie so much. This and Anastasia were my most watched animated films as a kid! And Jennifer Aniston voicing the mom is perfect :)

I’ve only heard about this movie when I was little, but I didn’t see it until now. I was not prepared for this movie to make me cry as much as I did.

Hadn't noticed this either but you're so right!

Ahhh this should be titled ask and you shall receive!! <3 <3 Thank you for watching this!! I'm sooo happy you loved it. I consider it one of those truly formative movies for me. "You stay. I go. No following." breaks me even after so many rewatches.

Lia

This is still one of my favorite films from childhood! So glad you enjoyed it!

This was the first time I noticed the visual similarities between the character designs in this film and in the Incredibles! Apparently the characters in the Incredibles were designed by Tony Fucile and Teddy Newton- both animators were brought onto the project by Brad Bird who worked with them at Warner Bros. Kent Mansley reminds me so much of Syndrome!

Iron Giant is a masterpiece and I'm so glad you saw the Director's Cut! It's the only version I watch and always recommend to people. This was Brad Bird's earliest critical success before he did Ratatouille and The Incredibles (you must check out that one if you haven't yet!) Iron Giant was a bit of a passion project for him, as he had recently come to grips with losing his sister to gun violence at the time. And the premise was born: "What if a gun had a soul and didn't want to be a gun?" Coincidentally the 1968 novel it's based on, written by Ted Hughes, was intended to provide some comfort to his children after their mother Sylvia Plath's suicide. The tragedies and melancholy that ultimately shaped this movie into what it became...it means so much to me that people can craft something so beautiful and meaningful in the wake of heartache. A little off the radar, but so good is the movie Wolfwalkers. Traditional animation, and nominated for the Academy Award a couple years ago. I also think you should check out some stop motion if you have the interest! Chicken Run is a near perfect hilarious adventure, also the Wallace & Gromit movie. Or Kubo and the Two Strings. :)

I'm so glad you watched this when you did, since Jennifer Aniston plays the mom, and this came out the same year as the season of Friends you're currently on πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Oh man. Oh man. I'm pretty sure this movie holds the record for the most crying I've ever done on camera πŸ˜… Also cursing, I really hated that military guy 🀣
