Anastasia - FULL REACTION

This was a really light hearted romance with some really dark moments surprisingly. Hadn't heard of this film until very recently which is so surprising since this was such a good animated film. Enjoy :)

You're right. The story is a little creepy. As was mentioned before, the Romanovs were a real royal family of imperial Russia who were killed during the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917 - like the French Revolution, the disparity between the Royals and the common folk was too much for some to handle. The music was written by Broadway composers Steven Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens, and the cast was loaded with well-known actors of the times. Anastasia was played by Meg Ryan, Dimitri by John Cusack, Rasputin by Christopher Lloyd. The Dowager Empress was in fact played by the same voice as Mrs. Potts as you were guessing, the legendary film and stage actress Angela Lansbury. Vladimir was played by Kelsey Grammar most well-known for his portrayal of Frasier Crane on the series Cheers and Frasier. And Vladimir's love interest Sophie was played by another legendary Broadway actress, Bernadette Peters. Oh! And Bartok the Bat, was played by Hank Azaria from the movie The Birdcage and most famous for his many roles on The Simpsons. :)

Why no sound or video on these?

Yeah, "creepy and dark" is kind of Don Bluth's thing. A few of his others are worth checking out, he made a lot of important contributions to animation. Though I personally find most of his movies heavily flawed, a lot of people like them.
