I actually got to meet the director and cast of Sentimental Value at a Q&A screening of the film when I was on a weekend trip in New York back in November. I got to ask Stellan how difficult he felt the role was going to be after first reading the script, and I also mentioned that acting is what I loved doing. He told me “If that’s what you want to do, do it. Who’s going to stop you? Whether you’ll get paid or not, that’s a different conversation.” And he gave me a thumbs up as he left the room. Also Elle Fanning waved at me when I introduced myself (I was the only person of my age in that theater, I was 16 and now I’m 17). It was easily the best movie-going experience of my life. I even told the cast they were all guaranteed to get Oscar nominations, and look where that got them!
