WIEDERGEBURT: Missadventures at Nevaria Academy - Chapter 1
Added 2023-03-09 23:26:26 +0000 UTCKari Astralia woke up bright and early, got dressed in her academy uniform, and left home before her fathers or older brothers woke up.
The early morning sun shone over head as she walked down the cul de sac in Kawagoe Prefecture.
Just what was the princess of Nevaria doing in a Japanese prefecture? Who knows. Please ignore that and focus on the story.
Kari was a brand new freshman all set to attend Nevarian Spiritualist Academy. It was a special academy that only the wealthy elite had been able to attend, until her mother had taken over as the academy’s principal and opened it to the commonfolks. This would be her first year in high school, and she was very excited. What sort of things would she see? What kind of lessons would she learn? Would she make any new friends? She certainly hoped so.
Why was there a school with an English name in Japan? Please ignore that too.
As she turned a corner, Kari found someone standing just a few meters away, holding a bag in front of them with both hands. This girl had flowing red hair that reminded her of fire and vibrant green eyes. Her chest wasn’t quite as big as Kari’s, but that hardly mattered. Dressed in the same blue skirt, blue and white sailor fuku uniform, and knee-high socks, the girl was every bit as beautiful as her.
“Fay! Good morning!”
“Oh, Kari. Good morning to you, too.”
Fay Valstine was Kari’s childhood friend. They had known each other for ten years now. Kari still remembered the first time they had met at a social function their parents attend every year. She had spotted Fay in a corner of the room, trying to remain unobtrusive. She had looked so pitiful that Kari took pity on the girl and snuck out with her.
She would never forget the look on her friends face when she reached out a hand to her. Fay had looked like she was some kind of alien or something.
Fay’s father was a wealthy magnate who owned several auction houses all over the world. Anyone who had something rare and expensive to auction went through the Valstine Family’s auction house. She didn’t know how much money Fay’s family generated yearly, but she remembered attending an auction once and being shocked when one of the items sold for over 200,000,000,000 yen.
“Are you excited for school?” Kari asked as they began walking.
“Well… I guess. I think I’m more nervous than excited.”
“Worried about whether you’ll make friends?”
“Worried I’ll get harrassed.”
“Ah. Yeah, that might happen.”
Kari stared hard at Fay’s chest, which caused the other girl to cover them with her hands.
“Just where do you think you’re looking?!”
“Teehee. Sorry. Sorry. But, yeah, I can see why you would be worried. You’re so pretty. I doubt any man would be able to resist talking to you.”
Fay tugged on a strand of hair. “I think you should be more worried than yourself. I’m not nearly as pretty as you are. How many confessions have you shot down now? Ten? Twenty?”
“I lost count after the first one hundred,” Kari admitted.
Kari had been something of a heartbreaker back in middle school. A lot of young boys would confess to her, but she turned all of them down. Not a single one of them interested her. Whenever they asked her out, they would stare at her breasts or her hips—never her face. It annoyed the crap out of her. She knew it was natural for men to be enamored with her physical features, but could they at least spend some time staring at her face? Was that too much to ask for?
“Oh! Is that big sister and Fay?!”
Another girl came up to them. Her skin, hair, and eyes were all dark. The seductively narrowed eyes gave her a mature aura that made her seem older than she really was. Of course, her appearance was ruined by her innocent personality, but that was neither here nor there.
“Lin. Hello!” Kari greeted.
“Morning, Lin,” said Fay.
“Good morning, you two!”
While her school uniform was the same as theirs, it had been heavily modified. The top three buttons were undone, exposing her chest. Lin’s breasts were modest, nowhere near the size of hers or Fay’s, but the view was nice and Kari confessed that the tantilizing glimpse of tanline showing where her bra often sat caused her mouth to go dry. Her outfit was what Kari would have called gyaru fashion.
“Are you ready for our freshmen year at school?” asked Kari.
Lin thumped her chest. “Of course! This princess is more than ready!”
That was another odd habit that Lin had. She always referred to herself as “this princess.” Kari often teased her about it.
Lin’s mother was the owner of Queen’s Shipping LLC, a powerful shipping company that delivered packages to anywhere in the globe. Kari once heard a rumor that Lin’s mother belonged to a family of terrorists in the Middle East, but she had abandoned her family and moved to Japan after meeting her husband when he was on a business trip. That said, Kari had never once seen Lin’s husband, but she had met her mom several times. She was hot. Kari sometimes wished she could bend that women over a table and…
She shook her head. Now wasn’t the time for such delusions.
The train station was quite busy when they arrived, and their presence garnered a lot of attention, not just because they were dressed in the school uniforms of Nevaria Spiritualist Academy, but also because of who they were. Everyone who was anyone knew of them. Kari’s, Fay’s, and Li’s face had appeared in several magazines. Most of those appearance were because of the functions they had attended with their parents, but Kari’s was also because she worked part-time as a model.
“People sure do like to stare,” Lin muttered.
“You should be used to this by now,” Kari said.
“Hmph. This princess doesn’t care. They can stare at her all they want.”
“...”
“Are you okay, Fay?”
“Hmm? Oh, yeah. I am fine.”
Fay gave them an unconvincing smile. Kari and Lin didn’t really care if people stared at them, but Fay had always been a bit shy. She preferred remaining in the background. Thinking about it, maybe it was Kari’s fault this girl kept getting so much attention? Nah. That couldn’t be it. Kari never made Fay do anything she didn’t want.
Kari, Fay, and Lin waded into the train with everyone else. They made sure to stand in a corner to avoid train gropers. Kari still remembered the one time poor Fay had been groped on the train. Some pervert had grabbed a handful of her butt. That man had been beaten black and blue by an enraged Kari, but it had caused quite the scandal, and she had been lectured for going overboard. Hah! As if giving some lecherous bastards his just desserts was going overboard! If anything, her mother should have been thanking her for enacting justice.
They soon exited the train and walked out of the station. Nevaria Academy was close to Tokyo University, so there were a lot of college students walking alongside them. They received a lot of stares. Before long, the academy came into view.
Nevaria Academy looked obviously foreign. The imposing edifice was reminiscent of a renaissance era palace with high walls, flying buttresses, and a massive clocktower in the center. She sometimes wondered how the Japanese government had allowed such a thing to be built.
“I’ll see you two later. I have to get ready for my speech,” said Kari.
“That’s right. You’re giving the entrance ceremony speech. Good luck,” said Fay.
“Good luck, big sis!” Lin shouted, waving.
“Thanks, you two.”
Kari flashed them a smile before parting ways. She made her way to the auditorium, entered through the backroom, and met up with her mother.
“You’re late,” her mother said.
Hilda Astralia was a stern-looking woman with shoulder-length blonde hair, icy blue eyes, and refined features. She looked like a European aristocrat. Her cold beauty had earned her many admirers among the student body. A lot of guys in her middle school had also crushed on her mom. It was kind of gross, actually. Like, she knew her mother was pretty hot, but did they have to ask her to come over just so they could ogle her mom? Gross.
“But the entrance ceremony hasn’t started yet,” Kari complained.
“That hardly matters. You’re my daughter. You have a reputation to uphold. You should always be—”
“At least fifteen minutes early,” Kari said with a sigh. Her mother was such a hardass.
“Hurry up and get ready. The entrance ceremony will be starting in ten minutes.”
“Yes, Mother.”
Kari didn’t have much to do to get ready. She made sure her hair looked fine, that her makeup wasn’t smeared, and that her clothing was unruffled. Once ready, she made her way to the backstage, where she heard her mother giving the tail end of her opening speech.
“… as you know, the entrance ceremony speech is normally given to the person who placed highest in the entrance exams. However, today is a special case.”
Wait. Special case? What makes it so special?
Kari had not heard anything about this. Wait. Did that mean she hadn’t ranked first but was still giving the entrance ceremony speech? That didn’t seem fair.
Oh, wait. I do think I remember there was someone who tied with me, wasn’t there?
And that was when she saw him. He stood on the other side of the backstage. It was a young man with long green hair tied into a ponytail, vibrant green eyes, and fair skin. She actually thought he was a girl at first. However, he wore the slacks, shirt, and blazer that made up the male uniforms. And now that she was looking at him more closely, she could see that he filled out his uniform quite nicely.
He has very broad shoulders…
He must have noticed her staring because he turned his head. She wondered if she should look away, but then he gave her a nervous smile that caused her to smile back. He had an awfully cute smile for such a hunky man. It made her chest feel all fluttery. How was that even legal?
“Two people placed first in the entrance exams this year, and so they will be doing the opening speech together. Eryk Veiger? Kari Astralia? Will both of you come up and take center stage?”
Kari had no more time to focus on the young man. She took a deep breath, squared her shoulders, and walked onto the auditorium stage alongside the young man. That was her first meeting with Eryk Veiger, and while it had only left a slight impression on her, they would meet many more times in the future and grow closer with each passing day.
Unfortunately, so would her two friends and a certain shy teacher.

I'm happy you like this. I think it's fun writing an alternate reality story. I'm thinking of making this part of an omnibus collection.

2023-03-10 01:59:02 +0000 UTCThis was fun. Did catch 2 mistakes. When introducing Lin, you have "Lin's husband" and at the train station you have her name as Li
