All About That Base
Added 2024-04-16 15:00:07 +0000 UTCThere's a lot of designs in OpenForge, and stuff is getting kind of confusing. On top of that, there's just a huge number of bases that have not been updated to have features like flex magnetic. Well, I dedicated an entire weekend to trying to resolve some of this. So, here's some of the changes that took place.
Bases are now only stored under tiles/bases in OpenForge
Tile sets link to base folders, at least for people using windows.
All thick_wall and s-system stuff got README.md files that explain how to use the tiles in that folder. I'm going to be doing this moving forward so that there's some documentation in the folders to help people out.
Every single base has been looked at to make sure that if it has magnets, it's using Flex Magnetic
Many bases got significant updates, I probably banged out 80 to 100 entirely new bases, or facelifted them. Cut-Stone specifically got a lot of love
In many random places, the bases only had a small selection of the connection systems
Multiple designs have been migrated over from OpenForge.Rename to their final home in OpenForge, which involved renaming all of them to the official file name format, but also checking up to make sure that all the parts were right. Specifically, pool, sewers, roofs, a bunch of building facade stuff all got migrated
I did a scan through OpenForge.Rename to delete anything that has been superseded by later releases.
There are still 160 bases in OpenForge.Rename, but almost all of those are for Separate Wall angled and some curved stuff I have yet to get to do updates for. We're down to 2500 files or so in Rename, so we're 3/4ths of the way there on this massive reorg.
This was a bit of a hodge podge of a release, but the base situation is dramatically better now.
Grab the files
There's 1363 bases attached here, woof.

Awesome. That was my thoughts but it was my first time doing anything run tiles and I second guessed myself to much I think.

2024-04-23 00:37:44 +0000 UTCso.. I'm not seeing this written anywhere so if anyone can help me I'm a smidge confused.. the openlock bases have little bits that get in the way of connecting the typical connectors. am I supposed to cut those off or use another connector?
