Added 2023-04-06 05:11:44 +0000 UTCWhat bases do you print? Is there a locking system you use that I don't support?

2023-04-06 16:36:49 +0000 UTChave you seen the Magnetic flex bases? they can take sphere magnets or disk magnets, and are set up such that you don't need to worry about polarity with either.

2023-04-06 15:26:49 +0000 UTCI started using clips, then I used magnetic clips with 3mm magnets, now I think I'm just going to use the 5mm magnetic bases exclusively

2023-04-06 12:07:40 +0000 UTCOpenVLex has different use cases: one of them is simply swapping the base system of your favorite tiles. Wanna have 20 nicely painted flexible dungeon style 2x2 floor parts ready? Print plenty of magnetic OpenVLex bases, print plenty 2x2 OpenVLex triplex bases. Swap them depending on your use case: magnetic bases for convenience, openlock when you prebuild larger floor rooms. It's that easy.

2023-04-06 12:06:32 +0000 UTCI was under the impression that you print large plates and clip info from there, I just want single tile bases and not have to deal with clips :)

2023-04-06 10:48:23 +0000 UTCYou asked for a way to 'hotswap the bases from the tiles'. Thats exactly the definition of OpenVLex! ;-) And there is no need to 'switch out your system' ... everything stays nicely compatible.

2023-04-06 10:44:48 +0000 UTCFor floor parts and WoT parts I use OpenVLex and for separate walls I prefer the triplex openlock system. My OpenVLex bases are ~50% openlock (triplex) and ~50% openlock+magnetic.

2023-04-06 06:43:38 +0000 UTCPlus I really like the idea of the magnets and how easy it is to just place them beside each other, verses a base plate/ clip system

2023-04-06 06:43:35 +0000 UTCI have but at this point it would be a huge change to switch out my system for that, plus it would add to storage size hahaha

2023-04-06 06:33:25 +0000 UTCYeah I’m also in Canada and can’t get the balls. I reworked the bases in blender to fit 4x6mm barrel magnets instead. A little annoying to have to worry about polarity but at least it works.

2023-04-06 06:09:11 +0000 UTCI guess they used to be sold as a toy, but to many kids would eat them. And as you can imagine magnets are not good inside the body. So Canada made it ilegal to import them. A lot of international companies dont offer shipping to Canada and most that do are outrageously expensive.

2023-04-06 05:26:10 +0000 UTCIm from Canada so the 5mm magnet balls are difficult/ expensive to come by as they are technically illegal here but the convenience of them makes it worth the hassle. If there was a way to maybe hotswap the bases from the tiles that would be AMAZING!
